Great drinks!! Wings are amazing!! Homemade bleu cheese is OUTSTANDING!!!!

I feel a lot of the reviews on here are either from 'locals' that love the place and know the staff, or from jaded people who's... expectations were not met. Here's an honest review: - They have trivia on Tuesday nights. It's great fun. Need to disable thejukebox in the bar during trivia. Sometimes the clientele get a little rowdy and start jamming hard metal, loud. Hard to hearthe MC in the dining area for trivia. - The food varies. Those who claim the best steak dinner in Sun Prairie, or best steakthey've had in a while? Don't know where you've been but McGoverns steak is average for the area, at best. The price is reallynice, as is the rest of the food at McGoverns, but with the steak? You definitely get what you pay for. - Chicken wings aresome of the best around. Definitely in the top 3. - Salad bar is mostly a mess. Sometimes they have plates, sometimes not.Sometimes they run out of salad, sometimes they don't. When the salad bar is properly maintained, it's pretty good. Presentationneeds a lot of work as it don't look like much! - Staff - varies. I've had very good service on trivia night and I've had,shall we say, not so good service. - Decor and cleanliness. McGoverns is a bit of a pig sty. The carpets are worn, place needslots of updating. Last time I went, there were little bugs, like gnats, all over the place!! I mean like you could see 5 - 10of them flying around at any given moment. They were over by the salad bar, too. I wasn't sure if the little specs of things inmy salad dressing were herbs/spices or 'extra protein'. - Menu. The menu is misleading. They had jalepeno poppers (cheddarcheese, cream cheese) on the menu forever. Every time I asked if they had the cheddar cheese ones I was told they were out. Had dinner tonight at McGoverns! Since it was a Saturday night we enjoyed prime rib! Steak ???? What a delicious meal! Great... priced & great portions! Our meal included prime rib from your choice 8 ounce, 12 ounce or a 16 ounce, potato of your choice,salad or soup & came with carrots. The prime rib was medium rare just how I like it as well as juicy & tender! It?s definitely aplace to try! Our waitress was Kathy & I have never came across a waitress so pleasant & caring. She sat down & spoke to ourlittle 11 month old daughter & had a conversation with my significant other & I. She was so great! She was very kind, caring,social, outgoing & all around good person. Avoid. Stayed twice at hotel full nightly rate for 3 nights each. Was overcharged for the bill. In fact IT WAS DOUBLE. In... addition to the security deposit I was charged. Clerk said oh look disability card huh? And she said oops you pay twice. Then nomoney for food and scared to go in hotel after the discrimination incident. She was laughing. I went to call restaurant whichdid not answer phone. Then walked over and it was closed early. N unacceptable and embarrassing experience in every possibleway. Read more
