We tried Swagat for a family get-together. Their restaurant is very nice on the inside, and the moss wall was a nice design... touch. Now to the food. They actually spice their currys when you ask for it. We have tried several other Indian restaurantsaround town, and when we go for 4/5 spicy level, they usually end up mild, but Swagat actually delivers a pleasant level of heatand flavor. We really enjoyed the curry, lamb chop, and appetizer that we tried. Read more

Let me start by saying the food was phenomenal but the price is for the ambiance and the plating. You can find other delicious... Indian food for far cheaper in the Madison area. That being said, I’ll be back to Swagat without a doubt. We started with thesamosas (I did not get a picture) which were full of flavor and they obviously know what a popular appetizer that is because itcame out to our table within about 5 minutes from ordering it so they must constantly have some in the fryer to serve asthey’re ordered right away.\nWe also got the garlic cheese naan and the spice masala naan. Not to say that the garlic cheesewasn’t good, but the spice masala was hands down a better choice. It will probably be my go-to naan order from here onout.\nFor entrees, we got the butter chicken with goat cheese and the goat curry. They have spice levels from 1-5 and being ourfirst time at this restaurant I didn’t want to order spicier than I could handle so the butter chicken had a spice level of 3and the goat curry had a spice level of 2. They are light handed with the spiciness so I will be going up to a 4 next time. Wehave no complaints about the flavor or portions at all, they were fantastic, filling with plenty of food to have taken home tohave for left overs the next night. The only reason I would hesitate to come back here rather than another Indian restaurant inthe madison area is the price. The butter chicken was $19 and the goat curry was $20. Again, there was plenty of food andincredibly delicious, so it was worth it without a doubt, however you can get delicious Indian food for far cheaper at otherlocations. Even with the price tag, I already plan to be back tomorrow with a friend for a dinner date. Read more

A bit pricey for the offerings, but an elegant restaurant with some great decor. The staff did a good job of giving their... patrons space and letting them eat without much interruption. All while still being available if anything was needed. I orderedthe Chicken Tikka Masala. They prepared the meal and brought it to the table quickly. The food was visually appealing anddelectable. The only drawback was that they have one all day menu. So there aren\'t lunch portions and prices, everything isscaled around a dinner menu. As we had stopped here for lunch, it ended up being a bit steeper than we had anticipated. Read more

We were very impressed with this location when we went inside. Beautifully designed. The decor and restaurant called for a great... experience. Unfortunately, this restaurant staff lacks the basic knowledge or common sense on how to treat customers. It\'s notjust about doing your job and that\'s it, it\'s about so much more and being engaging with your customers and being considerateand making sure they\'re comfortable, instead of only doing what conveniences you.\n\nWe were kind of greeted in the restaurant, and it was about 1pm, so after lunch rush, I\'m assuming, because there wasn\'t anyone there besides 2 other tables. Somehowwith all the space they had to offer, they somehow ended up giving us the absolutely worst location of a table, crammed betweenthe side tables with just an adequate amount of arm room, but not enough space to order multiple dishes, 2 at the most. Besidesthat, if it were actually busy, we\'d then have to deal with the servers rushing back and forth brushing our sides or customersgoing in and out of the restrooms. The chairs were also very uncomfortable.\n\nWe decided to order the chicken tikka masala andmalai kofta. Holy cow, guys, there\'s no lunch menu. Everything is just dinner prices. So for lunch this is definitely not worthit. We received our food very quickly. The Malai Kofta was the only good thing about this restaurant, beautifully presented anda foodgasmic taste that matched the actual end product. The sauce was absolutely amazing and paired well with the veggiemeatballs. We received 4 total veggie meatballs, so you might be wondering how much that cost? Well it cost ONLY $16.95 for fourmeatballs with loads of sauce and some rice, FANTASTIC DEAL, especially if you have money that grows on trees.\n\nThe chickentikka masala had great aroma and great potential, but when we took a bite of it, it was rather boring in taste, almostborderline bland, but it didn\'t have anything that made the dish sing and at $18.95 the dish Read more

I had the grilled pineapple, tamarind martini, saag paneer and garlic naan, 10/10 recommend. The staff there work very hard to... make a good experience and the effort shines. They elevate Indian food and I loved the plating. Definitely would comeback.\n\nThe back room with the group tables are a little echo-y and loud from hard concrete surfaces so if you\'re sensitive tosound I\'d make sure to eat in the rooms closer to the front.
