Lovely atmosphere but overpriced, in my opinion, for their small plates and the quality of the drink I had. Having just returned... from Spain where I watched countless glasses of sangria being made, I was disappointed that their sangria lacked some essentialingredients. Just plain old dry red wine with a piece or two of fruit does not sangria make. The broccolini and its sauce were ahighlight. The fingerlings, needing more of their red sauce, were good but not great. The gnocchi was succulent. Loved how ripethe watermelon was in its salad but the other parts of the salad were nothing to write home about. The sangria literally left abad taste in my mouth so who knows if I will be back. This is a wonderful restaurant with a rotating, creative menu of fresh ingredients. Every dish is always perfectly prepared and... the ambiance is wonderful. Great wine and cocktails too. Definitely worth driving into Swarthmore to check it out. It?s the bestrestaurant in DelCo. Read more

Very little AC. We went on a hot day and I was basically melting. Not sure I've ever sweat that much in a restaurant before. But... the food and drinks were top notch. I would just recommend going on a cooler day, or dining outside. Sort of a smaller place sobe sure to book a reservation. Read more

The third time we are getting unfriendly welcome and service. at Village Vine Wine Bar & Bistro The meal that night was... excellent. However, upon arriving at 6:52PM for a 7:00PM reservation for three, outside, made in the morning, we were told,without asking for our name, that we were "a little late" . The server's watch must have been wrong. After waiting for a while,we were shown a small table dressed for 2; we eventually got a larger table. The three of us ordered the same grilled trout anda glass of wine, and we had no appetiser. However after about 45 minutes, and while the guests on the right and left of us, whoarrived well after us, had been served, we asked what was happening with our order. The server told us that since we didn't havean appetiser, the food was delayed and also that the fish had just been put on the grill. It still took some time before thedelicious fish was brought to us. We wish that the owner would better train the personnel, and that the guests would not beblamed for the Bistro's mistakes. We kept coming back in spite of two previous unfriendly treatments, giving the Bistro thebenefit of the doubt; but now, this is it. It is too bad because although the food can be good, however, there are limits towhat, as minority guests trying to have a good time with their friends, we can accept from any establishment.
