I really wanted to like this place but I left feeling disappointed and underwhelmed. The atmosphere is great. You can smell the... smoke as you walk up to the door. The restaurant looks out over Lake Tahoe and the docks. The food selection is decent,traditional southern bbq. St Louis ribs, pulled pork, smoked wings, etc. The service was slow but they were understaffed when Iwas there. I ordered the pulled pork platter which includes 2 sides and some cornbread. The food arrived quickly but itprobably should have spent a little more time in the kitchen. The wings were average, they were cooked through, but they couldhave used more time on the smoker. The pulled pork was barely warm. Same with the beans and pork chili. Nothing was reallyhot. The flavors were good but the lack of warmth in the food was distracting from the experience. Smoked meats and breaded catfish. The house made beer was tasty and cold. View of the lake partially blocked by the marina.... Staff is friendly but overworked. I will come back if the opportunity presents itself. Definately worth stopping. Read more
Didn?t have the vegetarian option (tofu) available so I had the 3 sides and cornbread Combo instead. Portions were very small.... The collard greens were very salty and I found a dead fly in the potato salad. My partner said his chicken was good,though. Coming from the UK, we?d heard great things about American BBQ but we left underwhelmed (and pretty hungry). Read more
Our second visit was just as great as our first. Moe?s has a selection of delicious smoked or BBQ meats along with my fave,... fried catfish. There are a dozen sides and they really do run out of some toward the end of service - which is a good sign tome. The pork chili and the collards are delicious. Great broth with both. For dessert the banana pudding is a treat. Thelocation right on the lake is definitely part of the appeal, but the food is good in its own right. Good amount of outdoorseating with some shade, as well as plentiful indoor seating and a nice fireplace. Read more
