The first time I ever ate at this place it was a storefront. I heard they had a fire and they never reopened as a storefront... again. It used to be a great place then. Since then, they have reopened and become a food truck, I called once around 1230pmback when you could call and get someone on the phone and the said they weren't open yet, even though they serve lunch theystill aren't open at 1230pm on a weekday. I thought thats crazy, so I just went to Latin Twist instead and thought to try againanother day. Another time, my husband and I actually did an online order(because now, that's the only way you can place anorder now unless you go there) and we got 2 cuban sandwiches. Everthing was fine. Cuban sandwiches were good. This latest time Itried to order a sandwich for myself only to find that they have a $15.00 minimum order and thats before tax and a tip, so justto order a cuban sandwich for lunch that costs $11.00, you have to add another item(like an epanada) thats $4.00 in order to beable to place an order and the cost just went up to paying over $16.00 for lunch.. Hopefully someone will see the review and fixthe minimum amount issue/problem because, Im not buying something else that i don't want just to place the order. Thats justridiculous. Ill stick with Latin Twist. This place has become way to complicated to just get something to eat for lunch. I gave2 stars because when you do finally get something to eat from this place, it is decent food. Las Palmas (Food Truck) has the very BEST Cuban Sandwich in Tampa, PERIOD! I ordered a couple of them today and couldn't be... happier. They are EXTREMELY flavorful; the prices are reasonable, and the owner couldn't be a nicer guy! The sandwiches are verylarge in size. I could only eat half of one at one sitting. I also ordered the black beans and yellow rice for a separate sidedish, and they were incredible! Best I've had since I can't remember when! People- support businesses like Las Palmas or theywill cease to be able to stay in business. If this place were to close, where in New Tampa could we get such a delicious CubanSandwich as well as other delights? I plan on coming here more often. It's too hot to cook, the prices are great, and the foodis plentiful and delicious! What more could anyone ask for? Try Las Palmas and you'll be a lifelong customer! Read more
Been in Tampa for over a month, and this is the best Miami/Cuban style food you?ll find in all of Tampa. Their restaurant had a... fire and is being remodeled, so come show some support because you won?t be disappointed. Crazy, because I haven?t had Cubanfood like this since 1999, and when the owner asked me from where was it, turns out he knows the places I used to eat at inUnion City, New Jersey, and his uncle has a spot I used to visit often on bergenline.
