I saw some raving reviews about Apey Kade in multiple articles ranking Valley restaurants so I had to give it a try. It was also... my first time trying Sri Lankan cuisine. Let me tell you, this place is a hidden gem. You may be put off by it?s appearance atfirst. It looks like a hole in the wall with dim lighting. I wouldn?t recommend eating in the restaurant itself. Take it to goif you don?t live far. That said though, the food is outrageously tasty. The hooper, which resembled the flavor of a crape andshape of a bowl, paired perfectly with the broth of the stewed chicken. I could eat three bowls of that chicken and spiced brothit was that good! I also ordered some pastries that had a spicy onion flavor, a great addition to your meal. I promise you thisplace is worth a try. If you are unsure what to order, ask the nice couple behind the counter and they will help you. I can?twait to try more things here in the future! Read more

The Lamparis is my favorite food here along with the kothu porotta. They have Puttu also here which is a Kerala food. Learned... from having food here that there is a deep culinary connection with Kerala food and Sri Lankan food. There are only a few seatsinside the restaurant to sit, but togo is their main service mode currently. The owner is the cook and is a very friendly personanswering all my curious questions about the food and culture. Read more

Apey Kade means "My Shop" in Sri Lankan dialect. Although the place was small, the food was excellent, fresh and fulfilling to... the hearts content. The coffee itself is a must try and so are the snacks and the main course. The rice pack wrapped in bananaleaf is a must try. The owner was very patient and took time to explain to us the various menu items and how the items got theirname. If you plan to visit, please keep in mind that the food is spicy and if your palette is not used to it, then you shouldask the owner for alternatives. I for sure will definitely be going back to try the other items in their menu. Read more

The lady in kitchen is rude, isn?t very considerate of children?s palates (they don?t necessarily like all the spicy food) and... seems to have forgotten Sri Lankan hospitality, especially considering 99% of other restaurants in the US would haveaccommodated us. Moreover, a good reminder this shouldn?t be just a job - it?s a services job. Read more
