Think twice. This is not a 3 star experience. Yes it is beautiful there but at $300 a night you should be able to expect stellar... customer service and clean and functional room. That is not what I experienced. It started out in check in when they want thewhole stay paid for up front. That has never happened at any hotel before, I thought that was checkout. Then I get to the roomand the sofa bed was not made. I called and asked for someone to come and make it. They said they would drop off the bedding. Itold them that I didn't feel I should have to make up the bed as a guest. Staff dropped a plastic bag of sheets with one pillowat the outside door. Really? I made my bed myself. Mad but oh well try to get on with it. Had a good day in Grand Marais, madedinner and went to bed. At 2 am water was pouring through the bathroom ceiling, my sister almost fell on the wet tiles. We endedup putting out pans and mopping up with all the towels. It finally stopped at 330 am. The bathroom electrical was not working onthe lights and fan. Don't think that was safe. Anyway we were done with it. Packed up the second night of our four day stay anddrove the four hours home. They only charged us for one day but that doesn't pay for the time, the disappointment, the gas orthe food. The north shore usually brings me peace. Maybe you might get that at Blue Fin but I didn't. A good spot if you are looking for a relaxing honeymoon on the north shore close to great hiking. (As this is what we... did). However I will say.. booked the grand superior master suite from seeing a "tour" video on social media.. what we walkedinto was the same room, but still not renovated. Many of the amenities listed online were also not in the room. Tried to mentionthis to someone at the front desk, but they did not speak English well and couldn't understand what I was describing in the roomvs what was pictured online. They have Ipads for room service and music features; but with the poor wifi service we couldn't useours half of the time. There are not many resort activities, and the daily ones you must sign up a few days in advance or theywill be fully booked. Overall we still had a lovely time, just feeling somewhat left with "something to be desired". Read more
