It's a really nice setting and the margaritas are good, but go somewhere else for food?calling it 'meh' here would be generous.... They charged for chips and salsa (always ominous), and the burrito, although made to order, really wasn't good at all. I've hadmost of my Mexican food in California, Texas and Chihuahua, but I dined here with a local, and she said this doesn't live up toArizona's proud Mexican food tradition, either. Read more
Mireya Valdez made a Birria de Res burrito that had fresh sliced rounds of jalapeño pepper, spicy mayonnaise on top and then on... the side was a red salsa, pico de gallo, sour cream and avocado. I also had agua de jamaica as well. Total $8.79. In my book???? that's a great deal on a GREAT MEAL. EXCELENTE SERVICIO. Our meals were fantastic! Great beer selection from Uncle Bear's. Excellent service!
The restaurant was busy. I get it. What I don?t get is having to get up to check on missed drinks. Have to go ask about straws.... Try to find our our own silverware after our food has been brought out. I saw other tables with the same basic problems. Ourappetizer was still not ready after our main meal was brought out. The good: The ambience is lovely, wonderful decor, outdoor seating with heaters, nice lighting. The service is very friendly.... The tamarind margarita was outstanding. The bad: The food that we got was mediocre at best. It was edible but not great. I'velived in Arizona for 45 years and I know good Mexican. So I was really hoping to get some in Tubac, but it was not to be. Thepupusas were not at all authentic. They're griddlecakes, the shouldn't be deep-fried. The texture was totally off. The tamalewas hard on the bottom. And the refried beans were overcooked, so much so that they had a crust. The chips were meh, everythingexcept the margarita was disappointing. Wishing l would have gotten the street tacos, maybe they would have been better. Read more
