Very expensive for what you get and definitely not that good. Green beans tasted like they were just poured out of the can, the... $4.25 chicken breast had no flavor, the bread was hard and dry, the sweet potato pie tasted like whipped foam sweet potatoes, not edible. For 2 very disappointing meals we paid $40. Definitely will not be back. Read more

Matthews Cafeteria is one of the best places around to get classic Southern food. Their food is excellent and the line moves... quickly. I love the fired foods, casseroles, and sides. Been a couple of Thursday nights to listen to blue grass, but quite disappointed in the dining. Fried chicken (breast and... tenders) was cooked to too dry, not juicy at all; turkey and dressing was much too salty (three in our party indicatedsimilarly) and the turkey was dry not juicy; green beans and turnip greens were good enough, but only so; cherry pie is thicklycrusted with good tart cherry filling; lemon icebox pie is good, sweet.
