Had a stench when we walked in. Right as we were sitting down for a table, we saw a cockroach on the table that crawled/ran to... the wall and the bartender killed it with his boot in front of us then apologized and said, ? sorry we just sprayed and theroaches are coming out of the walls.? that?s when we said,? let?s go?! I moved into an apartment building across the street from Midtown two years ago. I'd migrated from Chicago, so I didn't know... anyone here. I went to Midtown and met some friendly patrons and the owner Frank. I asked about their fried mushrooms, he saidthey make them fresh in house and gave me two to sample on my dinner plate...the rest was history! I told him that they werebattered the same way and tasted like a Chicago chicken place called Brown's Chicken. Everyone went to Brown's for themushrooms!!! I have since moved to another apartment building, but when I visit my old neighborhood now I go to Midtown justfor the mushrooms. Last night Frank was there, who I haven't seen in awhile. They have my favorite beer on tap, it isn't super crowded (at least when I've been there) the service is great AND the grilled... cheese sandwich is to die for! Order it with 2 cheeses, add tomato slices and onion with extra bacon. Mouth watering! The breadis extra crunchy but not burnt and so much cheese it just oozes out. Beer is super cold. Read more

Can't say enough about this place. The bartender was friendly and was always one step ahead of the game. The guy in the back,... cooked the food SO perfect!
