This is a Tybee institution, I get it. And the first time we came here, 7 years ago, the shop was still pretty functional and... vibrant. That is not the case now. The grill is shut down, the options are limited, and the shop is literally falling apart andfilthy. I?ve worked in food service for many, many years, and I understand how difficult maintaining a shop can be- especiallyin light of how difficult the last few years may have been. But the Shack seriously needs some help, be it new ownership or newmanagement. For the most part, it seems that they have given up, and are coasting on history rather than quality. Read more
We have been vacationing here for about 6 years and we ALWAYS make a point to visit the Sugar Shack. The ice cream is delicious... and they have a grill that is open sometimes. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Nothing frilly with the decor- It?s a truebeach ice cream spot. Read more

Establish in 1971 and looks like they have not touched the place since. It was dirty inside and out. We just had ice cream. They... were out of the 1st several items we wanted. The one guy working there seemed less than thrilled that we were wanting to ordersomething. Don?t waste your money. Go somewhere else. This place has a great location.
