The waitress and the man at the counter had a really bad attitude. The places tries hard to give a feel good vibe, but thats not... reflected in the food and service. Read more

A very beautiful place and cute design inside! You got to visit the washroom to feel that Canadian spirit! A little weird... working hours from my point of view. We came one time at 3pm on the day the place was supposed to close at 4, and we were toldthat the kitchen is already closed and you can only get some cold sandwiches, cookies and coffee. We had to leave as we wantedlunch. When we returned another day we had to wait for the table but at least the kitchen was open this time. The food was ok,nothing too special. For lunch/dinner there wasn't too many options, like 3 burgers and 3 sandwiches. Also, in the menu it wassaying that some breakfast items were available all day but we were not able to order them and my husband had to switch to aburger. I had a sandwich in a baguette, it was good, the bread was nice and fresh and crispy. The side salad on the other handwas for extra price and not worth it at all. Just some plain greens with too much olive oil and no vinegar of anythingelse. Their coffee is nice and we bought a cookie that was pretty great too, so their bakery items are top notch! Read more

I have tried most of the places serving lunch in Val-David and find there is much to be desired. I went to C'est La Vie Café... for the first time this past weekend and found it to be better than most in the town. They have a pleasant (and quite big) deckfor summer dining, and the service was quite reasonable compared to other places in town where I've waited quite a long time forfood that should not take too long to prepare. My two friends tried breakfast dishes and I had the roasted veggie sandwich.Everything was quite good. My complaint is that we arrived at 12:45 and tried to order the delicious-looking goat cheese salad, and the server told us that salads were not being made and we had to order breakfast. 15 minutes later at 1pm, people werehaving salads delivered to their table. It seemed like they were trying to be efficient and turn tables but I found thisfrustrating because I had come in craving a nice salad and I don't really see the downside for the cafe to just say "it'll be a15-minute wait". Nonetheless, I'd definitely give it another try after 1pm next time I'm in Val-David. Read more

The best thing about this place is the exquisite location. Food was good, staff are quite friendly. We sat outside and the while... the furniture is a bit old, it does have this rustic nice feel to it. Inside seems pretty cosy too. Read more
