This hotel was a welcome site on our travels. We were all cooped up and stressed out do to a loss of a loved one. Hotel El... Capitan was amazing. They were quick to check me in and very helpful. Our team visited for dinner and I can tell you not to give it a second thought. The place itself is full of history and has a... delightful atmosphere. No! It?s not stuffy at all. But just walking in a person can feel the history. But back to the foodbecause who doesn?t love food? I and a coworker had the Pecan Crusted Salmon. That alone is worth the visit to Van Horn! I kidyou not! There?s not a ton to choose from so it will be easy. Service was very excellent with the moderate pricing leaving usfeeling like we got our money?s worth! If there?s one thing I would skip next time. It would have been the Mexican CocktailShrimp. While the in-house made chips were delicious. The salsa/cocktail sauce was bland. First of all, the cooks are doing an excellent job. As a former line cook of 20 years, I can tell you, the love is there. Do not... take this lightly. Secondly, the accommodations are top notch. I loved the room and everything about the hotel. Lastly, but notleast, the staff are very friendly and made me feel very welcome, in addition to doing their particular job quite well. Great restaurant and service! The staff is very friendly in the restaurant and the hotel! The hotel has great rooms and... comfortable beds with great A/C! I should probably also add that the room prices are pretty good here as well! If you are forany reason visiting Van Horn, then I absolutely 10/10 recommend this place to stay for the night! Read more

Nice hotel in a small city! It is a jewel waiting to be discovered. My only complaint is that personnel must be aware of the... excellent acoustics of the centrally located reception desk. The noise they cause in the morning when talking spreads quickly tothe guests' rooms. We were in room 31, and after arriving at 2 in the morning all we wanted was to sleep late and we could notas they woke us up with their conversation. We mentioned that to them but apparently did not care about it as they continuedtheir lively conversation. Read more
