Great modern atmosphere, making use of the brick wall of Gas Town buildings. Good lighting and good use of space; seating wasn't... cramped. Service was friendly. We shared a bunch of dishes: perogies, latke (crispy, good with the lox), Chicken Kyiv (crispywith juicy meat), borscht (tender meat, but it's for one, hard to share). It was our friend's birthday and they did give us apiece of cake, on the house, which was delicious. Went there for lunch during my Vancouver visit and can’t say how much we loved the food and warmth of our server. This was my... first time trying Ukrainian food and the hostess went out of her way to explain the food and ingredients. We ordered their breadand butter, cabbage rolls, pork and onion Varenyky, stuffed peppers and the honey cake. Everything tasted top notch and madewith love and fresh ingredients. For drink I ordered ordered the happy hour empress sour cocktail and it was curated toperfection. They also sell bakery items and we ordered a chocolate babka and got a complementary butter cookie! Came here for the first time and really enjoyed it. Tried a few different happy hour items and some different pierogis as well.... All were good and enjoyable. They also have some pastries and breads that you can get to go. Looking forward to trying moreitems next time I’m in the area. Read more
The interior was really nice (terribly sad I forgot to take pictures). My Ukrainian friend took me here and the food was... amazing! Not entirely sure what authentic Ukrainian food is but this has convinced me that this is what it should taste like.There were some employees that spoke Ukrainian so that added to a vibe of authenticity. We had the holubtsi rolls, both themushroom filling and pork filling. Can’t remember for the life of me what the name of the other dish was but it was tastyalthough the flavour itself wasn’t rich.
