Tried Shoom Restaurant for the first time. My mom loves bitter melon so googled online for the best places to get this dish.... Came across Shoom. The name caught my eye. We ordered take out as my mom's old. When I went to pick up my order, I was greetedby a very friendly waitress (I was probably their first order for the day). Place was spacious and clean. Will definitely comeback to eat at the restaurant. The food was very delicious, great presentation and portions for take out was large. Pleasantsurprise. Take outbag was unique as well. Also a nice touch. Notice the handle straps. I ordered Pan Fried Eggs Bitter Melon.Stir Fried Bitter Melon Black Bean. Beef with Gai Kan. Pork Chops with Guava Sauce. (Sauce is a tangy mayo, very delicious!!!)Dai Chin Chicken and Seafood Fried Rice. We were given complimentary Mango Pudding. Portions big as well. Definitely a placeeveryone should try out. Amazing dinner special! We loved the unique tea that they served and they also brought out dishes so quickly. Had a private room... and washrooms were super clean. Food was all super special and different than the average Chinese restaurant dishes. Loved theirmenu options. One of our favorite dishes was the salted egg yolk prawns with the rice cakes. And we love how cute the mangopudding jars were! So delicious and huge proportions. Recommending to all our family and friends now and we will come backsoon! Read more
My family has been coming here for years. The food is very tasty; the servings are large (we always have leftovers to take... home); and the service is friendly and efficient. There’s always complimentary soup to start and a choice of two desserts atthe end. Read more
Note: Cash only restaurant (the amount of low rating reviews because people didn’t know cash only is wild). A decent Chinese... restaurant in the heart of an area known as “Little India”. This restaurant has actually expanded over the years with a mainseating area, along with additional rooms that are accessed from behind the counter area (back of restaurant and left). Thisplace is known for their portion sizes, truffle chicken, variations of salted egg yolk with some type of shellfish and ricecake, and their cute mini mango desserts to end the night. Food is slightly above average from the standard Chinese restaurantgiven the vast amount of variations and varieties available. Nothing seemingly bland or over salted. Great place to have largeparty dinners (think Chinese banquet style 10 person tables). Servers can seem “pushy” but that’s how it’s done Asianstyle (so not really bothered). I liked the garlic water spinach and the salted duck eggs crab. But the crab was way pricier than we expected. A 2.75 lbs crab... was $90.. we would’ve not ordered it if we knew the price. Also the geoduck was too oily we ended up leaving more the a halfof geoduck unfinished. However, they had free soup and dessert and both of them were pretty nice. So it bumps up my 3 starrating by one star :) Read more
