Lol, a joke. Drove around looking for this place couldn't find it. Finally deciding to park and walk to find it using GPS. It... was a small shop with a different name and no indication that this was the chocolate store. We walked in and the chocolate storewas literally one Glass case half empty in the back of the store. Great Chocolate, Great Chef, Great Time! I went last year and just stopped by on a whim. Best Decision ever! Wound up being... there for hours talking and eating and I plan on coming back the next time I drive through Calvert. Read more

Update: This place has now relocated to Waco while chef Ken is recovering from an unfortunate accident. I am leaving this... review here as a tribute to the great shop that chef Ken run! Yes, this place is expensive, as other reviews say. Yes, thechef is a character. Yes, the food is unorthodox. But if you prefer generic food and service accompanied by plastic smiles, Ibelieve your tastes are well catered for in this part of the world. This place is different. The food is totally worth theprice! Same goes for chocolates: they are pricey, but the nearest place I know with chocolates of comparable quality is inVienna. The chef cares more about the food than about cleanliness of his apron (sorry, he actually makes the food, this tendsto sully the apron!) or his language. But isn't this how it's supposed to be? So I am willing to forgo the fake luxury ofdecor and service to get the amazing food and personal attention of the great chef! Read more

3.5 stars for yummy Bourbon chocolate truffle ball. 2.5 stars for $3.00 for smallish Bourbon chocolate ball and no discount for... higher quantity discount. The building is lovely. The business takes up very little of the space. I cannot speak to coffee barside of their business as it was 100° out. Read more

Firstly - the chocolates (2*) They are good. Not great, but good. There were some interesting and different flavors; some of... which worked, some of which didn't. The prices in store are fairly expensive for what they are - $3 a truffle. Howevercomparatively, the online prices are extortionate. Secondly - Online Experience (0*) Prices are ramped up online, presumablydue to the "fancy" packaging it is delivered in (which included numerous plastic grocery store bags as padding). There was apriority delivery charge (1 day delivery) of $15, which wouldn't have been so bad if the chocolates arrived the next day.Instead they arrived two weeks later. USPS had done their part in delivering the chocolates the day after they received them;however they didn't receive them until two weeks after the order had been placed. Finally - In Store Experience (0*) Mygirlfriend and I had a horrific experience. Some may classify the owner as "eccentric" or "a character"; I classify him as rude, arrogant and obnoxious. Whilst my girlfriend and I were trying to enjoy a quiet, romantic treat with posh chocolates, the ownerwould not leave us in peace, and instead spent the entire time telling us about how he's managed to buy a Bentley and a privateplane, amongst other self obsessed stories. All this was whilst blowing cigarette smoke in our faces the entire time. Calvert isa lovely town. We really thought we'd stumbled across a little gem in East Texas. Unfortunately, at the heart of it lies thisplace, which should have been one of the main reasons to return to the town. Instead, it is the main reason why we won't. Read more
