This has always been my go-to sandwich in Waco! Since l live near Valley Mills Dr. I choose that location, but if l had a mtg.... or appointment downtown, l eat there or take out. I have eaten other local sandwiches if they were provided at the mtg, but IMOthey just do not compare. Read more
This is such a cool, friendly sandwich place - just a couple of blocks from the Dr Pepper Museum. The perfect place for a... filling lunch after visiting the museum. Their namesake sandwich - the Schmaltz sandwich - sounds absolutely delicious but Ididn?t try it (not a ham eater). Instead I had their veggie sandwich on the jalapeño cheese bread. Really good! Others on mytable had the chef?s salad and other sandwiches - all were delicious And the folks behind the counter are friendly and patientif you have any questions. It was alright, I don't really agree with the rave reviews which convinced me to come here. The wait was absolutely ridiculous... for a Thursday before the lunch rush and what I consider to be a basic order. It took about 45 mins. It was for 2 people, bothordering everything exactly as it was on the menu. There's no sign when you walk in saying to order first or anything, kind ofconfusing. It was not that busy at this time. It wouldn't hurt to have someone walk around and clean the tables. I think thebread is gross. I'm an average baker and I've made better bread at home. I'm from Austin and originally NYC/CT. This place wouldnot survive whatsoever in any of those three places. People raving about this place have no standards of food. Barely any meaton the sandwich, both mine and person I went with. I was still hungry after eating what I ordered. Drinks are grossly overpriced. The tea is absolutely terrible. It was barely sweet. The bathroom was disgusting. The toilet paper was on the floor.
