Exceptional food, great service and very good prices. Very impressed with Sri Lanka cuisine and they had a lot of South Indian... (Malayali and Tamil) dishes as well, all of which were packed with flavor and had great textures. A lovely small family runbusiness (they own, cook and serve). Very strongly recommend. Of the appetizers our favorites were the fish roll and fishcutlet (samosa and dhal vade we're good too). For the main course we loved the hoppers (crisp edges and soft center) whichpaired well with the chicken and shrimp curries, the string hoppers, deviled chicken (amazing spice flavors that pop in yourmouth) and the kothu roti (a unique delicious mix of torn roti and spicy chicken). Most dishes have a chicken/shrimp/fish/beefand vegetarian option. The dessert Watalappam was also quite good. Definitely will visit again and if you are driving upstatethrough the Hudson River area, stop and give it a try. Read more

Having discovered this spot on Yelp last minute, we were kicked about this place based on pictures and Yelp reviews, but I was... equally skeptical based on the appearance of the place versus all 5 star reviews! Saman & Tanuja who own this place , welcomedus to a rather empty Diner with just one occupied table. But they were very upbeat from the get go. Quite talkative , sharinginsights about SriLankan cuisine , their spices , cooking techniques , how they started this place and of course Cricket ! Wewere hungry and jumped right into the menu. Ordered couple of mango milk shakes which Tanuja made from scratch. It was special, not too sweet , thick and creamy ! Our meal started off with an order of Dhall Vada - Crispy fried lentil fritters servedover a kicked up mayo . Fritters were made with a combination of ground and whole lentils which gave it a lovely texture & bitemaking it a perfect start to our meal . This was followed by Appam ( Hoppers ) made fresh in front of us . Its a version of acrepe made with rice flour , that has a pillowy center and golden brown edges served with Chicken or Prawn curry . One ofthe hoppers had a soft cooked egg in the middle . Hoppers are my favorite and everyone at the table enjoyed it with the twocurries. The curries were mildly spiced yet bursting with a medley of flavors. Kothu Roti - shredded Indian bread tossed withmeat , veggies and spices was good but didn?t have the punch! Pol Roti - Rice flour flat bread served with savory curry ofchoice. This one was a bit hard to chew and the flavors of the chillies and spices didn?t come through . Nasi Goreng - spicedfried rice with Shrimp & Calamari. This had an underlying kick but was so delightful that it was hard to stop after fewspoonfuls. We ended our meal with a unique Sri Lankan dessert Watalappam - it? was an eggless pudding made with coconut milk, warm spices nuts & jaggery - unique , soft to bite not too sweet with a pronounced coconut Read more

Great experience and great food! We google a restaurant nearby and this place have near perfect review both at Google and Yelp.... We never tried Sri Lankan food before but it tastes so good! I?m from Indonesia, we call fried rice Nasi Goreng and also welearned that Sri Lankan called it also Nasi Goreng. How cool is that! We ordered Roti with sambal coconut, Fish cutlet balls,Sri Lankan Nasi Goreng, and Devile Sri Lankan dish with pork. Everything came out perfect. But the highlight is the Devile dish.It is a must order there. The owner came to us and extremely friendly towards all customers. We are very happy with theexperience, and if we ever go back to Breakneck hike again we will surely stop by there for dinner. Highly recommend! Read more
