Finally able to get a reservation here, and we've been building up the hype about this place for years, so expectations were sky... high. Candlelit and somber decor, super friendly staff. I can't believe the amount of food that tiny open kitchen can dish out.The food was amazing. Homemade coppa, hen of the wood mushrooms, and the best, most tender duck breast I ever had. Beautiful space with a lovely daily menu. However the wait staff service didn?t give the touch that I expected for this price... point. I enjoyed the skate cheeks and dessert, we chose the simple sorbet option. For the entree I was disappointed that theonly vegetarian option was pasta. After hearing about Hen of the Wood all year, I finally got a chance to go. The coolest part about this place is the setting,... the dining room is a gorgeous old building overlooking a stream with a rustic atmosphere yet upscale atmosphere. That pairedwith seasonal food and impeccable service makes for a truly special experience. The food is good, but not life changing. Mysteak was a little undercooked and under seasoned, the beets were very average as well. Stick with the small plates, and youshould be good. The maple tart I had for desert was perhaps the single most memorable desert I have had in recent memory. Trulydelicious! Read more
