If you want authentic Cajun and Southern comfort food, this is the place to go. Personally, I love the etouffee, chicken fried... steak, meat pies, Johnny?s yardbird, and the Cajun Classic burger. The owner checks on every table as if you were a part of hisfamily. The food is reasonably priced, made with the just right spices, and served with a smile. Read more

We looked forward to trying Cafe Johnny?s. We hoped for a good restaurant close to home, and went for lunch. Unfortunately, my... etoufee tasted like the flour in the roux had not been cooked. My husband had the chicken ragu, essentially chicken in a tomatobased sauce over rice. The bread was average. Sorry to say this but the food just wasn?t very good. Too much salt, pasty taste. They have a nice staff, good service, nice atmosphere (that was worth a star) and a good beer selection. They could add aSauvignon blanc and a pinot noir to the wine list to balance it. I know how difficult it is to open a restaurant but you have tohave the items on the menu down well in a high competition area. The lunch serving sizes were very small for the price. I wouldnot recommend, Read more

If you want real Cajun food... do not come here. I was raised in South Louisiana and you definitely do not serve jambalaya over... rice. You cook the rice and ingredients together. It was tomato sauce over rice. Don?t ask me what chicken and sausage Raguis... it?s a mystery. Read more

Right off, the dining area is small but clean with plenty of tables. Tasteful Southern decor. There are several TVs around for... you sporty folk. The hostess gave off the new-to-food service vibe, which is fine. I went alone during "peak" time, Saturday7pm. My waitress was kind and attentive. The menu is small with all the Southern and Cajun staples (which is probably a goodidea for a new restaurant). I was 1 of 4 tables dining-in at the time with the manager making rounds with the patrons. Maybeit was "Johnny", who knows because he never introduced himself to me. He was, however, very friendly with the 3 OTHER tables. Iwas anticipating at least a "hello" but it never happened. Perhaps it was for the better; he and the people closest to me weretalking politics (a topic of conversation that makes me gag nowadays). What will I have to drink? Water with lemon, please. What? No more lemons? Ok, just the water (Got the tea later, which was actually good and not watered down). I ordered the friedpickles for appetizer. They were delicious but....there were way too many overly-fried bits on the bottom. For dinner, I orderedthe chicken-fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. The steak was a bit under-seasoned with more of those dangoverly-fried bits on the underside. Mashed potatoes were cold... And dry :( AND I LOVE MASHED POTATOES! Green beans were a bitmushy but they were made with bacon, so that made up for it. Was it terrible? No. It was expensive. I wouldn't necessarilyname this place as recommendation to any of my friends or family. I know it's new but I hope improvements are on the horizon. Read more
