Sammy?s Taste of Chicago (Nov. 3, 2022) Visited Milwaukee/Chicago from Nov 2-5 with 2 of 3 days spent in the former. Decided to... visit Sammy?s since time constraints prevent me from having sufficient time to spend on cuisine in Chicago. As I was travelingcheap again and used public transportation as my primary means of traveling, I took the bus from downtown Milwaukee aftervisiting the Milwaukee Public Museum (A MUST visit while in Milwaukee!) on Thursday early afternoon. The one-way trip took about45 minutes, and afforded you to see different sides of Milwaukee. It?s about a 4 minute walk from the destination bus stop tothe eatery. The pictures you see in the reviews are very descriptive of the place. I?ve included a picture of the one change tosupplement with the latest info and prices and certain fees. Food-wise, I ended up ordering a Polish sausage combo as my sit-inmeal. The main selling point of the Polish sold here is that it is prepared FRIED as opposed to grilled in almost all otherplaces. Let?s just say a fried Polish ups the taste with its crispr skin during the frying process. It is ordered Chicago style(Mustard, chopped onions, tomato and pickle slices - the only way to go!), and added the combo fries and drink which is priced30 cents more than what most pictures reflected. The combo deal is a great buy as it included loads of fries even if that?s morecostly compared to the past. The takeaway sandwich if bratwurst was a little disappointing when eaten later however; should havegone with the Chicago dog instead. Anyways, the Polish was highly fulfilling, and it?s a must have the next time I get thereagain. The owner (We talked about AT&T removing directory assistance!) and staff were pleasant. The kitchen staff were HIGHLYefficient. Based on my experiences, this is a 5 out of 5 star rating. It is a little out of the way, but if you do not have timeto visit Chicago during your Milwaukke trip, definitely do not miss a visit to Sammy?s. ** Read more

Been going to this place for years. The food is always good and reasonably priced. Another plus is that it's one of the only... places around - that I know of anyway - that can make a chocolate malt. Not a shake, a malt! Read more

First time at Sammy's for me, even though I've driven by it for 15 years. I had a hankering for a sausage sandwich, but wasn't... sure what was on the menu. Sammy's has sausage, Italian beef, subs, dogs and a other fare. The made-to-order sandwich wasterrific. Price was moderate. It was a welcome change from fast food burgers. Read more

Been going here for over 20 years. In my opinion it's hard to screw up a hot dog. The owner is not a personable person! I asked... for mayo but of course you get charged for mayo, but not the mayo itself, the cup to put it in is the charge I'm told. I'll takea blob of mayo right on a napkin to save me the .40! My husband noticed a convenience charge and asked the owner what it was. Hesaid he doesn't have time to explain. There was 1 person behind us in line and quite frankly they could have waited 10 seconds.Well it's the charge card fee the business gets charged to accept charge card payment. Now you won't have to question thosecharges and get treated like a nobody from the owner. Read more

On more than 1 occasion this place has closed as early 6:00. Just today I showed up at 6:15 and as I was walking up to the door... an employee ran to the door before I could walk in and locked it. And then everyone inside ignored me. They are supposed toclose at 7:00 pm, or 7:30 pm if you believe Google maps. On their door they have closing time posted as 7:00pm. Customerservice is a thing of the past anymore. They could at least have the courtesy to tell me they are closed. So if you ever wantto get something to eat at this place you'd better get there at least 1 to 1 1/2 hours before closing time otherwise you'regonna find that they just close early. It makes me wonder if the owner knows about this. And if he does then I guess that tellsyou what he thinks about his customers. I wasted time traveling a ways to eat at this place. Read more
