Found this place next to my hotel and decided to try it. I've been missing soul food for a while, and looked forward to seeing... what this highly rated San Antonio joint had to offer! Excellent service to start. You can tell from the picture, that I had ahard time deciding what to order! The ribs were superb, and I think they were a special for the holiday. I had top tier catfish,and the accompanying sides were great as well. It was a bit pricey for soul food, but hey... chalk it up to inflation. I hope toreturn soon! Read more
Family outing with hubby and adult children. Food was excellent!! We all had personal favorites... Catfish..baked... chicken...fried chicken...yams... collard greens...cabbage...mashed potatoes....peach cobbler...dressing and corn bread...usually don't do restaurants for soul food because I'm a excellent cook, but I was not disappointed...Great service andfood..Definitely recommend.. Holy cow!! I stumbled on yet ANOTHER great restaurant!! Looking for another fried chicken restaurant and saw Mrs. Kitchen over... on Walzem??sooooo glad I did!! Got the fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, red beans and the complimentary corn bread.Hot damn, it was ALL excellent!! The fried chicken had a great flavor with a nice crunchy crust. Large pieces on top of that.The sides were all great because everything here is homemade!! I grew up in the country and this reminds me of that time!
