I love this restaurant. But is it permanently closed? It closed over a year ago (seems like almost 2 years now) for,... ?remodeling?. But it?s been an extremely long time and it?s a small building. It shouldn?t take eons to update a little placelike that. They have clearly done some work inside. But given the size of the building and the length of the closure, I?m givingup hope of it ever opening back up. Please post an update so we can know what?s up. I love Slappy?s Chicken and would be reallyupset if I knew it was closed for good. Read more

We got take-out on the LAST Friday they were open before closing for their remodel to celebrate my hubby's birthday lunch at... home. It was a horribly rainy day, but calling in to make this order, I was welcomed with the sunniest, warm service. I told himthat it was my hubby's birthday and I was ordering Slappy's for him to enjoy for the very first time ever. They entertained meas I relished how I'd had their food many times and was excited to see what my hubby would think of the chicken. They thought itwas adorable, but also a funny coincidence because it was the last full day they planned to be open so we got in just in time -like it was destiny. Anyways, they let me know that I could order the family meal which consisted of a whole dipped chicken, twosides, and rolls wrapped separately from everything else to avoid getting soggy, for $25. What a great value! Due to thedistance from my house, they suggested I put the sauce on the side so that it didn't get soggy from the heat and time it'd haveto travel for us to really enjoy it. I'm glad we did that. The chicken stayed very crispy and we just dipped every bite in thesauce they packed for us. My hubby was pleasantly surprised by the sauce's unique spice and flavor while the sides were alsosuperb. The mac and cheese was baked nicely and the potato salad had generous sprinkles of bacon bits in it. Definitely the besthelpings for comparable BBQ joints I've had elsewhere in the area. When it opens back up, my hubby's excited to try the chickenfully dipped next time! Read more

We stopped by last night as co workers were raving about it. There's not a lot of options on the menu but their fried chicken... tasted great! The sauce was unique , not too spicy but it has a kick! Not bad for $8.99 meal. Read more

I came here on 10/12/20 for lunch with some co workers. Inside seating was closed, but we were able sit at a picnic table... outside. Staff were wearing mask and they have shields around the register. The chicken was crispy and good. Their famous sauceis both sweet and spicy. The more I ate, the more I tasted spicy versus sweet. I am not a fan of spicy food. It wasn't badthough. They do give you an option to have the sauce on the side. The collards and beans were okay, not the best. Staff wasfriendly. It didn't take long to get our food either and it was 5 of us. Read more

I have been hearing about Slappy's Chicken and finally got a chance to try it myself. It has been voted best chicken in... Winston-Salem several times and it did not dissapoint. Their chicken is covered in their signature sauce which they say is theperfect balance of heat and sweet and it really is. You can get your chicken without the sauce but I don't know why you would. Between myself and family we tried all the sides. I personally was a huge fan of the mac and cheese, but they were all good. Ask for extra napkins, you will need them. Read more
