The best place to eat in Winston. The food is always great (especially for the price) and the service is outstanding. Seriously.... I have never been disappointed with any visit I've had there. It's why me and so many other people have since become regulars. Read more

Very good lunch the few times I?ve been. Exceedingly nice staff and the restaurant atmosphere is very friendly, with cozy decor... and nice music. All of our lunches were good, and came out fairly fast. Great sit down lunch spot to eat and chat. We arrivedearly and it was getting pretty busy/had a bit of a wait when we left at ~12:30 so look out for that. A bit pricey, but a goodspot to treat a friend to lunch. :) Read more

Place hasn't changed much over the years. Hang around long enough -- particularly if you're over 50 -- and you'll see some folks... you recognize and a friend or two. Comfortable, cozy ambience. The peaceful coy pond beside the front door sets the tonebeautifully. Exquisitely designed for the small space between curb and building, water lilies, huge coy, waterfall, surround ofstones and foliage, create a calm respite from the surrounding urban noise. If there's a queue, which there often is, theprivilege of absorbing the vibes from that pond eases the wait. Since I don't like/can't eat seafood, I don't go for supper, asthe menu is heavily slanted that way. BUT, their sandwiches are great, as are the salads, which is what I ordered for thisvisit. It is a modified chef salad, on spring mix or equivalent, assorted vegetables, a couple of meats, cheeses. I asked forno cheese, which wasn't a problem for our server. Vinaigrette dressing on the side. The salad was tasty and satisfying, evensans cheese. We were a table of seven, which was smoothly accommodated. (We arrived after most of the lunch crowd had left, which easier the seating arrangement). Our server was, in a word, terrific. He had no problem with taking the individualorders, including all custom requests, remembered who got what, was attentive but not annoying during the meal. He handled theseparate checks with élan. I was with a group of people I had not known before, meeting around a common cause of dementiacaregiving. The atmosphere and staff of the Cafe facilitated the meeting, which was an altogether pleasant experience. Read more

First time in the West End Café in downtown Winston-Salem. It?s in a beautiful old neighborhood. It?s much bigger inside than... the outside would suggest. It had a full bar, full menu of lunch and dinner items. I just got a basic corn beef on ryesandwich, and I really enjoyed it. The inside is attractively decorated with a lot of hardwood and nice artwork. They had abeautiful Koi pond outside the front door. I?ll have to go back sometime to try out more of their menu.
