This is one of the best fine dining restaurants we have been to. Our server Clemens was superb and a true professional--so... attentive and efficient. Our appetizer, salad and entrees were perfectly spaced. He filled our water glasses without beingasked, and filled our wine glasses just as we needed more wine. The food was fresh, delicious and expertly prepared. My duckwas the best I've ever had and my wife's halibut was amazing. The pear ginger sorbet for dessert had the same texture as apear. The ambience in the restaurant is nice, and it's perfect for a romantic dinner. Definitely will return the next time wevacation in the area. Read more

Disappointing. Maybe we caught them on an off night: the bacon-wrapped pate was tasteless (how can bacon have no flavor?); the... magret of duck was not quite right; and the so-called roasted potatoes and steamed asparagus were barely cooked. The entiremeal was only marginally edible. However, I soldiered on and was rewarded with lingering nausea. Now, my nausea may not hadbeen from MY meal; it may have been from the nearby table?s reeking fish. I?m not sure whether they had the salmon, cod orhalibut?but their fish had definitely gone bad. I don?t ordinarily leave reviews because dining is a privilege. However, at theprices they charge one would expect a refined and elegant experience. We didn?t have that experience; and I feel like it was anopportunity missed and money squandered. Read more

Tonight my boyfriend and I dined at the Prince and the Pauper on their opening night of the outdoor patio space. Upon first... impression we noticed the charming area with five outdoor tables, surrounded by beautiful raised beds, bistro lights and theoutdoor patio heaters which not only provided ambience but also warmth for the chilly VT evening. Our waitress was lovely andvery attentive throughout the evening. The food was prepared to our liking and the taste exceeded our expectations. We wouldhighly recommend the Prince and the Pauper to anyone looking for a first class dining experience in Woodstock, VT. Read more
