This was a very hard decision. I really REALLY wanted to give this place 5 stars but I couldn’t. I would love to come back to... see if things change at some point. We started off with the usually salsa and chips that all Mexican restaurants provide and wewere pleasantly surprised that the salsa was very flavorful. It wasn’t like other places where it’s just basic pick degallo. Then we come to my first point. They were understaffed. When we walked in, we waited at the door for about 6-8 minutesbefore anyone came up to us but it was obvious that the place was packed. Luckily there was a single table that had a couplethat were leaving so we asked for the table. There was only 2 people attending the every table. We waited about 15-20minutes tohave our order taken but at least we had chips and salsa with water. We watched as they struggled to accommodate the people thatkept showing up. The place is sort of small but they make good use of it.\nIt is decorated very beautifully but there’s nomusic whatsoever so you end up hearing everyone conversations. Our food came out pretty fast. We had guac and chips and it wasgreat. The portion was perfect for 2 people. I ordered a steak burrito but was given shredded beef. My wifey had the Burristacos. Both dishes were really good so it makes up for the incorrect order being given to me. They have Mexican Coke which isalways better than regular coke; however, they don’t have any alcoholic beverages. In terms of pricing, it is on the higherside but it is about right when compared to any Mexican food in the area. My receipt had a QR code that said I could pay with myphone so I scanned it. It brought me to a website where I chose to pay via Apple Pay because I have my debit card linked. I washappy to support a fairly new local business so I left a 30% top. From the moment we came in we felt welcome, the people dinning in were very polite and the server was very friendly. She offered... to take our picture and was very helpful when we asked about the menu. Jamaica (Hibiscus) cold drinks came fast accompanied byfried tortilla chips and tomato sauce with herbs. My wife asked for substitute meat in one of dishes in the menu, she asked forsteak with mole, the taste was authentic and flavorful, I ordered the Oaxaca steak, I was surprised when they brought a lavastone bowl that had been oven heated to keep the food sizzling. Amazing display that made me hungrier, the flavor was superb.Meats were tender and just melted in my mouth as my eyes rolled from pleasure. I’m definitely coming back with friends.\nTheprice was good for the large meal, I ended up bringing leftover food home. This was a nice experience for my wife and I. Wow! What else can I say but wow. I doubted the five star rating because there were only 44 reviews but I am overjoyed that I... came to DON JULIO’S for dinner. THE FOOD WAS SO AMAZING. The guacamole was top tier as was everything else. I ordered thePescado con Elote and amazingly plated and a very large portion. The Quinoa salad was very refreshing as well.
