My girlfriend and I went for New Years Eve dinner. Let me preface my review by noting that the reason we decided to go was due to the fantastic experience we had New Years Eve two years earlier. That experience sadly was not to be repeated. Also, to be fair it was busier than it had been two years previous, but it was not close to being super busy.
We arrived at 6:50 PM (ten minutes early) and were shown to our table immediately. We then waited over ten minutes for our server to appear and take drink orders. This was followed by another lengthy wait before drinks appeared. I should point out that Liam our server was also the bartender. Another lengthy wait and our appetizers finally arrived. They were fine although my soup was not hot, probably due to sitting waiting to be picked up by the server. Next our main course arrived and neither of us had a complaint. The entrees were tasty. Then came dessert. My girlfriend enjoyed hers however, my crème brulee was ice cold (it should be at least a bit warm from the caramelizing process), and the custard was grainy.
We had two drinks each plus coffee. My second drink was almost a virgin Old Fashioned.
The above dinner experience took place from 6:50 PM until 9:40 PM. Just short of three hours for a dinner for two people. We should have been finished at least an hour sooner especially as it was a fixed price menu. Reservations tell a restaurant exactly how many people to expect on any given night along with what time those guests will arrive. If you are unable to staff your restaurant properly you are cheating your customers and ruining their night out. And providing your customers with an enjoyable dining experience they are happy to pay for, is the whole mandate of a restaurant.
What has happened to this restaurant is a shame. To have this pathetic level of service is absolutely unacceptable when a dinner for two and a couple of drinks totals over $260. The prices set for the quality and quantity of food served was higher than warranted in my opinion. Luke warm soup, weak drinks, below par dessert. Not my idea of a Happy New Year. I still feel cheated two weeks later. Unless I see that someone new has taken over this place I won't be back.
