A little background on how I got to this restaurant. We were on a road trip from El Paso to Dallas and was time for lunch and we... looked up Google and found a 4.5 star Indian restaurant so we thought we would give it a try. We ordered vegetable fried rice, samosa chat, chilly chicken, and curd rice. But before I review the food I would like to mention the dressing of the service. The service person did not seem to have formal or presentable attire. The guy had long uncut nails and the lady was completelyin casual sleepwear. That was not what we expected from such a highly rated restaurant. Now about the food, The vegetable friedrice was actually a vegetable pullav. The fried rice did not have fresh and small sliced vegetables. All the vegetables in itwere huge chunks as you can see in the pictures and it was just a mixed vegetable rice. The chili chicken was very hot and wecouldn't even finish it. The saving Grace was the curd rice but it was served without even a pickle and I had to ask the servicefor the pickle and she was not sure if the pickle was served with the curd rice. She had to head back into the kitchen and getit after 5 minutes. As you can see in the pictures, we did not finish even half of the food that was served. However, wefinished the curd rice which could have had a little bit more curd in it. During payment, the service lady asked about the foodand I gave her honest feedback that the vegetable fried rice was not. In fact, a vegetable fried rice and that the vegetableshad to be sliced in the smaller pieces and it had to be fresher and her reply was that this is how it is made here. The chef wasalso around and she mentioned my feedback to the chef and he smiled at it and walked away. He did not care to talk or discussthe feedback with us. One thing I can be sure of is that the quantity of food is excellent and a single order of rice caneasily feed two people or more. I wish the quality was as good as the quantity of food. I was excited to try this place. And though there were some good points, on the whole, it was a major let down and I won't be... going back. The restaurant is very clean. They were putting a fresh coat of paint on the exterior as I arrived. They obviouslycare about their business. The food was good and didn't take too long. I ordered the Butter Chicken, but there was a distinctshortage of chicken, and what chicken there was, was full of gristle. The service was lacking, barely civil, and thoroughlyuninterested. Also, be prepared for a food cost upcharge on your ticket. I don't mind, but don't like being surprised by it. Ifyou inquire about it, you are quickly dismissed with "it was posted" as the sarcastic cashier points to a small sign posted bythe cash register. The food was good enough to give them a second try, but with poor and rude service like that, they must notcare about repeat business. Read more

Stopped into... Royal Indian Buffet in Lubbock Texas. We arrived pretty early and they let us come in ans sit and once they got... the buffet ready they let us go first to the buffet. Not a large buffet but definitely hits all the Indian staple food. Thebutter chicken was really good!! We had to get our own drinks but they did provide us with a cup of ice for our canned sodas. They have fruit and desserts and the food was very flavorful! Small location but definitely worth it. I wish they had garlicNaan though. I love me some garlic Naan!! Naan was soft and great flavor but I'm still partial to garlic. Prices were not badand this location was pretty busy and easy to find. #lubbocktx #indianfood #indianbuffet Read more

I have yet to have a meal here that is not spectacular. I try to get something new every time I visit. Today I ordered the... vegetable korma. It was AMAZING. The vegetables were bright and crisp, and so flavorful. The farmers cottage cheese cubes willalways be my favorite (they remind me a bit of tofu.) As always we started with their samosas and garlic naan. This place is amust, when you are in Abilene! Read more

Wow I can't believe this restaurant is in Abilene. Having lived in the middle east I can vouch for the fact that this place is... truly authentic. Great Tikka marsala chicken and the basmati rice was cooked perfect. Garlic naan was excellent. You gotta trythis place. Place is spotless too. Read more

This is one of our favourite places to eat in Abilene. Tip: go with a group of people and everybody order different things and... share. They have so many great recipes, both meat and vegetarian, they are all worth trying (the vegetarian dishes arefantastic). Read more
