We enjoyed a truly memorable dining experience at The Girl and the Raven. All of the employees with whom we interacted were... personable, competent, and seemed to really enjoy working here. All of the components of our breakfast were scrumptious,especially the hash brown casserole (with a hint of cardamom?). The coffee is roasted in-house and the fresh-squeezed juiceconcoctions are all creative and superb. If you're ever in Abingdon, you should not pass up this hidden gem. Read more

We happened upon this place and boy we weren’t disappointed! We ordered coffee and our boys had fresh squeezed orange juice. ... Yes it is very family friendly! My coffee of choice was a cappuccino while my husband had a regular drip coffee. The coffeewas out of this world. The food was equally as impressive. The biggest and fluffiest biscuits with eggs and bacon and don’tget me started on the cheesy grits. Wow! My son said “wow, I have had a lot of biscuits and these are the best!” I alsohad granola with yogurt and fruit. It was wonderfully flavorful. We ordered coffees to go and they were just the righttemperature. Hot but not too hot. The owner made his way around and was more than happy to talk about the coffee shop and wasinterested in where we were from too etc. The staff was very helpful and attentive! Perhaps the best coffee house I’ve ever been to! They roast their beans perfectly and serve up a delicious array of specialty... coffees, lattes and more. Wonderful selection of pastries, scones, muffins. Great ambiance. Read more
Do yourself a favor - whether you’re a southwest Virginia native, or you’re just passing through, make it a point to stop... here. We stopped in on our way back to Atlanta, and we were absolutely blown away. This could easily be picked up out ofsouthwest Virginia and dropped into an area of Atlanta like Virginia Highlands and thrive there. Quick aside - we honestlydidn’t know anything about Abingdon, but were pleasantly surprised by the town as a whole. Back to the matter at hand though- The Girl and The Raven had phenomenal food, quick and personable service, and a really warm atmosphere. It has the warmth andcharm of a family run cafe (because it is), but has a level of professionalism and consistency that is unusual in family runrestaurants - especially one that has only been open for a year. When we went, it was busy, but the staff as a whole kept clearheads, and took care of people’s needs with efficient care. I had some of the best soup I’ve ever had - a German ham andpotato soup that the owner made up off the cuff. Seriously. The best. From what I understand, they make new soups regularly, andthey are all great according to a lady who was sitting near us and overheard us raving about it. We will definitely be stoppingback in when we visit family in DC. Read more
Great spot!!! We're in town for the Yeti 100 and glad we stopped here to eat. I got the Mocha coffee and it was amazing! I love... having healthy options when I'm traveling.
