I love this place. The food is always fresh and delicious for dine in, very friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Take out is mostly... great, but a couple of times the food was a bit mushy, like it was taken from the buffet left overs. Ate there once for thesupper buffet and it was delicious, but a bit pricey if you don't go back for seconds, the BBQ mussels were out of this worldgood. Sadly, they didn't restart the lunch buffet after covid restrictions were lifted, but definitely a place to check out. Read more

We used to come here regularly and get the take home dinner box off the buffet. It was decent and a fair price. Went in to do... that tonight and they?ve not only raised the price on the box a few bucks, but the box is now only 50% of the size it has beenfor years. Total rip off now. I miss silver star! Response: I can appreciate food costs have gone up and to charge a coupledollars more is fine?but then to do that and cut the size of the box in half, that?s just ridiculous. Read more

Went here for the first time tonight and we weren't disappointed. The service was hands down the best service I have ever... recieved at a buffet, anywhere! We were asked for our drink order, someone checked on our food quality, stopped by to talk upthe dessert, to confirm the food quality again, and to ask if we needed more to drink. I have never been asked more than what Iwant to drink. The extra effort by staff does NOT go unnoticed! Most of the food was really great! I'm surprised at some of theother reviews. The chicken balls had a great balance of dough to chicken. Neither was overwhelming. The Shanghai noodles werefantastic! Great taste and flavour! The dry ribs and chicken wings were also on point! Nice, crispy, and juicy. The chow meinwas really good too! Any of the black bean, sweet and sour, teriyaki, and ginger dishes were also very yummy. I could see whysome people may not like it. The texture of the meat is very soft, very tender. The outside batter on any of those items werecrispy and sauced well. The wonton soup had excellent broth! I didn't get a chance to taste my wonton as I was too full by theend of my meal. We were able to squeeze in some dessert, which was typical Chinese buffet dessert. Jello, fruit, bars, tarts,and ice cream. I was really impressed with the soft serve ice cream! It could give DQ a run for their money. They also have hardice cream if soft serve isn't your thing. The lemon tarts were really good! The only issue we encountered was that our tablewasn't quite clean enough. There was a big yellow sticky spot. Easy enough to remedy though. Ordered food for 8 people for $140. Food was basically un-edible. Almond Chicken was so tough and dry it was like week old... Turkey. The Sweet and Sour Pineapple Pork was mushy to the point of baby food and there was no pineapple at all in either of ourtwo dishes. We did find limp green peppers and iron hard carrots though. The chicken chow mein was over cooked and mush and theBeef Chop Suey was barely Par. This was strike 2 as we had a similar meal from them a couple months ago. There will not be astrike 3. We ordered on the Skip the Dishes. I arrived to pick up my order and spoke to two friendly ladies who could not find my order... and then was passed off to a very rude man. I gave him the phone number and he shrugged and said he did not have the order. Itold him the four items that I had ordered and he said that he did not have the order. Again I gave him the phone number and thename that the order was under and he again claimed that he did not have my order. I left and when I was almost home my wifecalled to inform me that the restaurant called and said that the order was ready for pick up. My wife told the man on the phonethat her husband was just at the restaurant and was told there was no order under the phone number he gave. The man on the phonesaid "either you come pick up your food or I'll throw it in the garbage." We did not return to pick up the food. FortunatelySkip the Dishes refunded the money. There are several other Chinese restaurants in Airdrie. Order from them before resorting toordering from Starlight. Read more

We ordered food for 9 of us at 133$ i would have been happy with the price if the food was flavourful. I remember enjoying their... food years ago but this time the food was bland and mushy. The ginger squid was a mess and the chicken in the chowmein tastedashey. The ginger beef was alright but even that was bland and over cooked. Some of our order was "ok" the rest was not good at all. The fried rice was good and the soup was my favorite. The rest was... basically not edible. Wanted to love this place since we are new to town, but no go for us. Improve quality is the bottom line. Read more
