I live 35 miles away from this restaurant but I always eat here when I’m in the area. Food is really delicious. My favorite is... the BBQ chicken, Crab Fried Rice and my wife loves the Pad Thai. So, this place is in a great location in Alameda South Shore. It’s very easy to get to. The ambiance is great and they have a... late happy hour with a good choice of appetizers and inexpensive drinks. However, I don’t want to go all Gordon Ramsay on you,I was not ???? about the food quality. It was just ok and it felt lacking in flavor with a pre-cooked vibe going for it. I wasexpecting something more flavorful, tasty and spicy. One good point to note is the appetizers are large portions, so keep thatin mind when ordering an entree. Really solid contender in the Thai food trade here in Alameda, The Larb salad was perfectly on point and the basil chicken, a... standard plate and a great plate to order if you want to see how a restaurant is doing, was also perfect with green beanspungent sauce, everything perfectly spicy. I approve of this place if you happen to be near the Southshore area, (That's up atthe end of Park Street as you get into the bay), And I enjoyed it despite the fact that it is at what is basically a bustlingmall. Great looking location. Indoor and outdoor dining available. I have always enjoyed the curries here. My go to curry at any Thai... restaurant is the red curry. The consistency of the curry is always the same and never too watery like some restaurants I'vebeen to. Just a suggestion, if you get the fried egg rolls as an appetizer, request for the sauce that they serve with the bbqskewers (entree). I've got to say I was a little disappointed, just because we have such high expectations of Monkey Thai. This was our first time... coming to this location and it fell short with the food. I got my usual crab fried rice and it wasn't as good compared to theother locations, it was missing the thing that made it so addictive. We got the barbecue skewers which weren't bad, but thecrispy pork belly was WAYY to crispy. Now, the pork belly itself was SOO GOOD, but some of the crispy parts were just inedible.You couldn't bite into it. 3.5 stars... A bit on the pricey side for thai food, but the portions are pretty generous! I was easily able to share an entree... with another person. + Chicken pad see ew ($15.95): pretty yummy! The noodles were a good texture and not too oily! The saucewas very flavorful. They give lots of egg and broccoli! + Thai tea (free with Yelp check-in): SO GOOD! Very fragrant and sweet.Not too much cream. They put the perfect amount. This hit the spot. + Oysters ($1 for happy hour): I was not a fan. They werevery flat and had no meat to them! This spot is great and I love that they have two happy hours, especially the late happy hour. Stopped by with friends and we... always order lots of food. The potions are giant and delicious. If you are looking for a place to eat lots of food and have agood time, this is it! Read more
