Good reviews about British style fish and chips was what attracted us to this establishment. Ordered the fish and chips and the... pork tartine. Pork tartine arrives without the sauce initially. The fish and chips was a bit over done but still ok. Porktartine was a bit dry despite the belated arrival of the sauce. Chips were great. Read more
I ordered the Steak Frites cooked medium and the fries were supposed to be Truffle Fries. The meal costs $26. The steak came out... rare, the fries were overcooked, and they tasted like regular overcooked fries to me. The music was also horrendous. I expectedmore for $26. The Olde English has been my go-to bar for celebrations of any kind for a good 10 years now. While I still miss some things that... are no more, The Olde English remains one of my favorite places in the Capital District for a pint and some food. The atmosphereis so cozy, the food is excellent, and the beer selection is so different than anywhere else nearby that it always makes theexperience stand out. The garden in summer is lovely, the fire in winter is so comforting. All around an excellent place togo! Update 3/30/22: this place just gets better and better. The staff here is a solid 12/10 and always makes me feel at home.Better than just a bar to visit for celebrations- this is just all around my go-to pub in general. ? Read more
Our go to spot for down to earth atmosphere and we feel sooooo welcome when we walk in. The vibe is hard to replicate anywhere... else...it's part the history of the building, combined with very cool staff and some outstanding food and beer. My husband and I had wanted to have an app and a drink outside but it was literally sweltering. Disappointed at first because... their outdoor area is so cute but that was quickly over when we got seated upstairs. This place has so much character and feelsold fashioned inside. We were seated right away but that’s unfortunately where the quick service ended. We were there aroundnoon so it was not busy at all. We waited about 15 minutes to put our drink and food order in, waited an additional 10 minutesfor our drinks and then another 10 minutes for our appetizer. We meant to be there for a quick stop in but our whole trip waswell over an hour. We have the waiter our credit card and waited another 15 minutes for him to bring it up so finally we walkedto the bar downstairs and got it from him. We still left 20% tip because I can’t imagine the uncertainty of being a serverthese days but the service left something to be desired. We both had the “Is It summer yet?” cocktail. It was fizzy andlight and just what I was looking for on a hot day. A downside was the mint in our drinks looked kind of brown and not so fresh.We then shared the meat and cheese board and were very pleased with it. The smoked Gouda, yummmm. I’m still thinking aboutit. So overall I wanted to love it because the furniture and atmosphere made me feel so comfy but fancy at the same time. But Iwas left a little disappointed with the slow service and funky looking mint in our drinks. I’ll try it again on a more mildday where I can enjoy their outdoor space. Read more
The staff were exceptionally sweet snd efficient. The place was packed for a concert at the Palace and they never stopped... smiling. The food was excellent and fresh. The cheesecake was the absolute BEST ever! Read more
