My friends and I enjoy dining at The Standard in Albany, and our most recent outing was every bit as good as past experiences. ... As always, the food was prepared tastefully and served promptly. We have always had good service at The Standard and our serverMolly was one of, if not the best server we’ve had to date. She was there when we needed her without being overly there, andshe thoroughly charmed us with her outgoing and sweet personality. I want to start by saying we had a lovely server, and they are by no means the problem here. The food was terrible. I have... probably sent food back to the kitchen less than five times in my life. I had to do it twice for this meal - it was thatbad. Tuna tartare - slightly fishy and the wonton chips were greasy. Taste was extremely underwhelming and I'm slightly worriedwe acquired a parasite Drink (Tiki something or other) - warm, unpleasant, and beyond sickly sweet. Couldn't drink it. Bluecheese crusted filet mignon, medium - initially came without blue cheese crust and I sent it back. Came back corrected but aspictured, rare verging on blue. Food was outstanding and our waitress Brianna was positively amazing. We were there for my husband's birthday and she went out... of her way to make it a great time. Bread was great. We were seated right away. Wait staff came over promptly. Portion was huge. Chicken tasted reheated. It was a... good dish but I did not feel it was worth the money. I also was presented with a bill which was not itemized. I knew it was toohigh. $35.00 for one lunch dish and a soda. The waitress had left on a gin and tonic which I didn't have because the bar had notonic. When u first asked about getting an itemized bill it became a bit of strange energy until a woman overheard, came overand took over. She quickly found the problem. No offer was made to correct the mistake. I will not hurry back. I don't feel themeals are made fresh, I didn't like the bill being presented without a break down. We went to the standard for dinner and drinks before a night out. We both ordered martinis off their regular drink menu both... drinks came with blue cheese stuffed olives. My dates drink came without her olive so we asked about it and the serverapologized and went to get it. After 2 requests we finally received it and as the picture shows it was completely covered inmold. I took the olive to the hostess stand and spoke with who I assumed was the manager where I explained that my drink had thesame type of olive in it so he asked what I was drinking and saud he would take care of it. After waiting 15 back at the tablehe brought me a new drink. After the meal which the food was good we received the bill and found that nothing was done about thedrinks. I happened to be in Albany for an event last weekend and my hotel was very close to the mall. I ended up here for a quick dinner... solo. My server was very accommodating and funny. They give complimentary warm bread which was fresh...???? i had a niceglass of Riesling. Server was very knowledgeable. I started with the Fresh Mozzarella with Tomato. (I am very picky withbalsamic and this one was amazing- Sweet and zesty!) They added pesto which is an added touch... Excellent and fresh! Iordered the Rigatoni Marsala and it was piping hot and delicious. If I am ever in Albany again, I would definitely come back. I fully enjoyed my meal.
