My first time here. If you want to fly back in time to the early 80s, this is the restaurant. It didn?t look like a New Mexico... welcome inside, pink, bright blue & turquoise all around, more of a truck stop diner on 66 with the neon lights inside. I love Richards. I've been eating here since they first opened, decades ago. The food is consistently great.
We used to go to Richard's every Friday years ago. Fell out of the habit when a close friend died. But we went back recently and... everything we had was just a delicious as we remember! We decided to give this restaurant a try, their signage on their window says open till 3pm we walked in the open doors at 2pm... and were told to leave with a shooing motion of her hands, that they were closed, even though the lobby was full and we walkedin behind 2 other people who were not told to leave. I can't even rate the food as we were not allowed to eat there.discrimination at it's finest. I can rate the attitude of the woman who turned us away after the other 2 guests were allowed in.Appalling! Rude! Took my money, my family and my appetite to Applebee's instead!!!! Read more

Finally got my opportunity to try this place out the other day when in the area at lunchtime. Restaurants that waste little time... seating you and getting good food to the table are always a keeper in my book. This certainly is the case as it pertains toRichard's Mexican Restaurant on Menaul. When I walked in, I was graciously greeted by the cashier and guided to a table by myserver. Chips and salsa were complimentary and as they usually do, made for a stratifying appetizer. For lunch, I decided to trythe intriguingly titled "low carb meal". Which came served with my choice of beef or chicken and a flour tortilla. Despitepossessing a marginally ambiguous name. The low carb meal is essentially beef (or chicken) mixed in with scrambled eggs andtopped with shredded cheese. Chopped lettuce, tomatoes, and guacamole are also included on the platter and complements theheartiness of the protein jumble that sits below it. Although I felt that the portion size could have been a bit larger,Richard's nonetheless delivered. The food was good, and the service was more than satisfactory. I'm definitely eager to try outmore menu items in the near future. Just be forewarned before you plan of visiting, that Richard's is only open until 3 pm. Read more
Love all the meatless options! The Live Music at lunch is refreshing! I had the special of the day which was Blue Corn... Enchiladas with lentils and rice. Very tasty! The staff is very attentive. Really nice overall experience! Read more
