Went in for a quick dinner tonight. Our first time ever for Benkey sushi. Every single person who works there is awesome! They... treated my wife and I and our 10month old daughter like family! They went way above and beyond for us tonight. This experiencereally blew us away! The food was delicious! The prices are reasonable. The new owners who took over just a few weeks ago has made this place amazing. I would give it more stars then 5 if I could.... Not fresh at all. Fishy sashimi. Tuna Tataki was not how it should taste! The sauce was nothing like it and not freshly made (we... saw them squeeze it out of a bottle) it was thick and the colour was off - The salmon sashimi was super fishy and warm - alsonot fresh as we watched them take it straight out of the sushi bar display already plated. Service was awkward and not welcoming- no actually waitress or hostess that day, a man from behind the sushi bar had to come seat us and he was the same man thattook our order/brought us food and assisted the other sushi chef behind the sushi bar. Right before we were leaving, 2 ladiesshowed up carrying a few coffees from Tim Hortons.. we assume those were the waitresses. Not a great first impression. Superawkward as they stare at you over the sushi bar watching you take every bite. At the end of our meal, the older sushi chef who?made? our food leaned over and said ?is ok?? - he looked concerned.. probably cuz he saw me taking pictures of the food. Alsothe water they served us had so much things floating around in the cup - and when we asked for tea, they said they don?t servetea in the summer? Never heard that one before. Read more
The sushi quality was good and the atmosphere looked nice enough. I would say the only thing that sets it back was the prices... seemed inflated. I feel like their party trays are a tad more expensive than other restaurants of similar quality. Also theironline website could use some work. It isn't very accesible for people to browse their menu. It locks you into a menu search barthat restricts your ability to look at all of their menu items. Read more
