Went for dinner and tried the T-Bone steak special. Servers were very friendly and the owner also appeared to take an interest.... The sides were just ok (fried items were far too salty and green beans were far too soggy). Likewise, the steak was fine(somewhere between ok and good), reasonably tasty but a little on the tough side. My guess is they use USDA Choice meat, notPrime and this quality of meat requires more marination, but that takes time. It's good for the price (only $21 for a steak andtwo sides) but I'd be willing to pay more for better quality and taste. Read more

Went on a Sunday at about noon. It was busy but they were handling guests efficiently. They had meat and three (or two or four).... My husband got the pot roast and I got fried chicken. Both were very good. The waitress was very nice. Cute area of Alex Citybut not too far from 280. Definitely recommend. Read more

The"Roll Tide" burger was delicious! The waitress was pleasant. Restaurant had a nice casual atmosphere. Prices are reasonable.... No complaints. Read more

Ive been here a few times and I've always had already experience. This time was no different. Our server was quick and friendly.... Our orders came out very quickly and was cooked to perfection. First let me say the place is a very neat place to go. The building has history. The atmosphere was really nice. The service was... amazing and super friendly and kept my glass full. I had the country fried steak with potatoes and Mac and cheese. The steak wasgood but it came with brown gravy, I just don't care for brown gravy. The Mac and cheese was good. Our server was nice. That?s the end of everything nice I have to say about Jakes. This place is dated, not cute dated, neglected... dated. The food was laughable cheap quality. My wife?s ?Ruben? looks like what your kids school cafeteria would make on Rubenday. Lunch meat corned beef on cheap sliced bread. The onion rings were terrible and the breading just fell off. The food was fantastic. I had blackened Talapia and it was just right. Onion rings were very good as well. Service seemed a... little slow, however we did have a party of 13. We went during lunch on a Wednesday. It was not crowded at all. Niceatmosphere. Definitely recommended. Read more
