I wasn?t expecting this but absolutely the best brisket bbq I?ve ever had. My husband ordered the brisket sandwich n Mac. I... ordered salmon shrimp and brisket Mac on the side. It was so delicious I could?ve eaten it again. The salmon is spicy but I lovespicy food. I highly recommend this place and will be back. The staff was friendly and accommodating. You won?t be disappointed. The chef Mr. Seth even greeted us while we ate. Read more

Craved steak for dinner but didn?t want to visit a chain restaurant, found this gem and man was it good! 12oz sirloin was cooked... and seasoned to perfection along with the grilled shrimp! Prices are reasonably especially with the supply issue. Only reasonfor 4 star is because I wanted to try the ribs but I couldn?t ?add 2 ribs for $7 to any meal? even though the menu stated Icould. Everything was really good. The turkey was one of the highlights for me. It's a difficult meat to do well, and had a ton of... flavor (even though the photo might not show it). The pork ribs were some of the best I've had in the South. Meaty, perfectlysauced, and beautifully smoked. If you're having a hard time choosing, then just pick anything and you'll probably do fine. Mykids were pleasantly surprised by the smoked sausage, PB&J (deceptively named!), and BLT. The BBQ is done perfectly in-stylewith a beautiful sauce. The meat isn't over-spiced or over-salted, so you can season to taste. The brisket seems to be done inthe Texas style, with just salt and pepper for seasoning and letting the smoke and sauce do the rest. Same with the pulled pork.I thought it was a little dry until my wife pointed out that was the point of the sauce. I didn't manage to get a picture ofthe bread pudding, but it was decadent. The brisket chips were a perfectly portioned and seasoned appetizer. Tasty without beingoverfilling. Finally, the atmosphere was without flaw. Everyone was kind and hospitable, from the young lady up front to themanager (owner?) to the kitchen staff that waved or said hello. Koal's is a true Southern gem. Read more

My boyfriend and I were at a title company on Hwy 28 west today and I told him when we came out that I could smell BBQ. We just... couldn't see the business because of construction going on beside it. Well I pulled out on 28, saw the sign and turned rightback in there. Man am I glad I did. We have eaten a lot of different places and tried so many new dishes, but I would have tosay that this is by far the best plate of food we've gotten to date. The ribs are amazing, don't know exactly what you do pitmaster, but for sure keep up the great work. We will most certainly be back. ???????????? Not to mention the atmosphere andhospitality of the staff. The inside of the building is so charming, cozy and comfortable. ?????????? Read more

Overall, an okay experience. The food wasn't what I expected. The man/manager/owner was very friendly and wanted customers to... have a good time. We probably won't return, especially since we came from 1 hour away to try it based on the reviews. Location:easy to find by gps. In a shopping center with plenty of parking. I didn't realize it was next to cindies and that was a littleawkward for the kids. Service: Very kind, but the waitresses and servers may need more training. They didn't tell us they wereout of food items and let us just sit there at the table without- they weren't going to tell us until we asked about the items. Also, we had a party of 6 and each of us got food served at a different time. My food was cold by the time the last person gottheir food (15-20 minutes). Also, the person taking orders did not describe portion sizes accurately. We were told the cups ofetouffee were large but they are not- its more of an appetizer for one person. Food: Just okay. The baked potatoes wereprobably the best of it all. The guys ordered ribs and chicken and felt they were dry. The ceasar salad was just sad- onlylettuce and dressing with 2 small cherry tomatoes. I ordered etouffee and was disappointed in the size and there was hardly anycrawfish in it. The mac and cheese was ok. We honestly wondered if the meats and sides were leftovers from the previously busynight since this day was very slow. It just seemed reheated and not exactly fresh. Price: a bit expensive, especially for thequality. Etouffee was $8 for a cup. Mac & cheese side was $3. If you want the brisket mac it's $5 and it's simply the regularmac & cheese with some brisket pieces on top. The pit plate that one person got was nearly $30 and he was not happy with thequality. He hardly ate it. Atmophere: very roomy and comfortable. Plenty of room at tables. No booths. Lighting and menu isgreat. We did think the items things were served on was funny- some just trays (ribs), some had plates (s Read more
