The downstairs basement bar is the only reason you should go here. If you want a classic cocktail "crafted" by a Victorian Era... barber who isn't pretentious but whose mustache says he is, while being located in a soft-lit space that used to be a Baptistchurch/grain silo, this is NOT the place for you. Go away! How did you get here?! Bayou Room is that beautiful rarity which isan authentic, organic, dive bar. The atmosphere, much like your friend in middle school who visits his dad every other weekendand introduced you to whippits, is comfortably sketchy. If you're a mistress waiting for a senator to reply to your texts, a D&Dgroup that does cocaine occasionally, a non-binary wedding party overflowing with justified confidence, or if you enjoy hearingstories from bartenders after you buy them a shot this is the place to be! Loved the place. Small underground place, that turns into a dancing floor with good music, disco ball and lights. At first entry... you wouldn't guess the place for such a vibe, it was a bit quiet with tables around the place and bar chairs. I'm not sure aboutthe time but they take the tables on the floor out and a dj comes with great all time favs and current hits. The only upside isit is a smoking bar so basically you have to be a smoker or a person who doesn't mind the smell as almost everyone smokesinside. Might go once just for the music and dance but the smoke is too much for a non-smoker. Read more
Came in with my friends and was asked to pay the check after the first round of drinks even after giving him the credit card to... hold. We asked why the other people in the room who were white were not being asked to pay for each round. He said that thatit is for everyone yet we were the only ones being asked to do that. We saw him go up to the white people after that and itsounded like he was asking them to pretend as if they were being asked to do the same thing. We left right away. Read more
