The Kitchen at the Captain Visger House was the culinary highlight of my trip to the Thousand Islands. The relaxed atmosphere... was enhanced by impeccable service and well crafted cocktails. The menu highlighted local produce and farmers with a definiteItalian flair. As delicious as the starters and entrees were they were eclipsed by the deserts, most notably the homemade carrotcake and bread pudding in caramel sauce. I would highly recommend it to anyone spending their evening in Alexandria Bay. Read more

Dinner here was excellent! I had the House Risotto w/ sausage for my entrée, which was just the right portion size and tasted... great. Though, if you're feeling extra hungry you may want a starter to go along with it. My wife had the Buddha Bowl, which hadvery generous helpings of vegetables and was very good too. For dessert, I decided to try the Malva Pudding, which I've neverhad before. I'd highly recommend it, if you like bread pudding type desserts. The Carrot Cake was excellent too! It was freshand had a ton of flavor. Certainly much better than the sugary carrot cake at the grocery store! Also, if you can get the tableby the bar, it's a unique little spot, secluded from the rest of the restaurant. Overall, it was a great dinner and we'lldefinitely return here the next time we're in the area. Read more

Loved the food! Actually everything! We order to go I wished I could eat indoor, but I was with my dog. My husband texted the... order and requested vegetarian tacos. The person said it was fine. He was treated by a nice Hispanic guy named Otto, who rightaway when to the kitchen to make sure they got the order right. He was always checking up on our order. I loved the attentionthat they provide to their costumers. Is a great place! The food is amazing coming back here tomorrow for breakfast! Read more

We were trying to find something special to go out to dinner and we found it. The restaurant is in a bed and breakfast and my... wife was a bit skeptical at first but it felt special to us as soon as we arrived. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Ihad the monk fish and it was the best prepared dish I had in a long time. My wife loved the Buddha bowl and white bean soup. Thedrinks (Negroni and an old fashioned) were nicely prepared and tasted delicious. Great experience overall for a nice night out. Read more

We had such a nice time here! The accommodations were not only comfortable, but beautiful and interesting, there was so much to... look at. The food was delicious, and portions generous we could barely finish our gourmet breakfasts. We also choose to havedinner at the kitchen, which is the attached restaurant, it was phenomenal and fresh! We could not have asked for more. Sam theowner is attentive and accommodating, more then willingly to give recommendations about fun things to do in Alexandria bay andbeyond, including our visit to Canada. We look forward to visiting again and will definitely be staying at Captain Visger Houseagain! Read more

The chef here is incredibly talented, but the dishes were hit-out-of-the-park amazing, or a complete miss. We had dinner here on... two separate occasions. My scallops and my best friend's beef wellington dishes, along with the burrata and the beet salad wereout-of-this-world amazing. Fresh, flavorful, and cooked (or arranged) to perfection. They also have a curated selection of localwine, beers, ciders, etc. where I discovered a new favorite of mine. The service was also great and our server wasknowledgeable. On our second visit however, we had a pork loin special and the pork belly. While the sauces for both were justas flavorful as the night previous, the meat itself was bland, disappointing, and fatty. Additionally, the service was morescattered and they burned one of our requested dishes twice because of the delicacy required in cooking it. Read more
