My wife and I ate at Cabana Blue Lakefront Sports Bar & Grill on September 2, 2022. We arrived around 1:30 pm and I was... surprised to find the parking lot and the restaurant nearly full, especially since we arrived after the typical lunchtime rush. We ran into some people we know and were told that it's not unusual to experience wait times of up to an hour. After dininghere, I now know why; our entire experience was very good. The restaurant opened on October 29, 2021 and is located on theeastern shore of Anchor Bay in Clay Township. The building's exterior is finished in a light blue shiplap with white trim and ablack metal roof, giving it a clean, fresh, beachy appearance. There is plenty of seating inside, around the bar, and alsooutside at high-top tables and several picnic tables. There are also several Adirondack-style chairs on the beach for customerswho may want to sit there with another drink after their meals. The bathroom was also very clean, which often is not the caseat other restaurants I have been at. Much of the perimeter of the restaurant has large roll-up doors allowing the entirerestaurant to have a more open appearance, in addition to allowing a cool breeze from Lake St. Clair to blow through therestaurant. The menu is nothing extravagant, just the typical bar and grill fare (appetizers, hamburgers, sandwiches, flatbreadpizzas, salads, a couple of fish, chicken and steak dinners, drinks, etc.), but the selection was good, our meals arrived fairlyquickly (especially considering how busy the restaurant was), and the food was very tasty. We also ordered a specialty drink tosplit. It came in a pineapple-looking glass garnished with an orange slice, and it too, was really good. The hostess and waitstaff were friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was exceptional. She was attentive and checked on us a couple of times. Whenour food arrived my wife noticed that it contained sour cream, even though she had ordered it without. Atmosphere is upbeat, definitely a destination location right on the water. Go by boat or car. Hang out on the nicely landscaped... yard and play an outdoor game or go inside and feast. We had the Cajun walleye and a steak. Both were outstanding. I?ll be backover and over again!!! Staff is cheerful and efficient! Read more

3.5 stars would be more accurate. Location and service were 5 stars, food and drinks were?meh. The craft beer members of our... party were disappointed in the selection, so our whole table opted for cocktails which were fabulous. The trio appetizer served4, so was a good choice for the price, but the guacamole was kind of bland and the salsa tasted like it was from a jar. None ofus were very impressed by the food. It was hot and okay, just not as good as we expected from the way the place looks and theprices. Fish tacos were bland (no flavor on the broiled fish, just tasted watery), no kick to the slaw. Cajun walleye had goodflavor, but it had to be eaten carefully because of bones (that may be a thing with walleye, so just be aware of that), and thesides were just kind of plain: steamed broccoli and run-of-the-mill sweet potato waffle fries. The most enjoyed dish at ourtable was the chimichangas, but they were kind of dry so they needed lots of salsa and some hot sauce. We would try this placeagain for the location and the cocktail menu, but maybe it?s more of a burger and appetizers kind of place to sit and enjoy thepeaceful view of the bay instead of the place to go for a unique and tasty dinner. First visit and definitely didn't disappoint. Great, friendly and fast service. Our waitress knew the menu and made great... recommendations. The lake views are great and the garage door style walls make this an awesome open air bar/restaurant once itgets warm. This place will be THE summer hot spot on Lake St. Clair! Read more

We went about 8pm on a Tuesday evening. The service was prompt, and the food was hot! While the food was good, the price isn't... justified - we weren't "wowed" by the taste of any of it, and the portion-size was OK (again for the price we paid). TheCabana Blue signature drink was delicious, and the cookie dough dessert was unique! (My partner loves cookie dough, but notcookies - so he was ecstatic to try it and appreciated having it as an option!) Read more
