You know this place is all about the gelato-- the food was average and very very expensive. It's weird, too, they don't give you... a bill ... I was charged for a bottle of water, two plates (very small) two appetizers and two ice creams, I was charged theshocking sum of $110 not including the tip--I'm certain I was overcharged but I couldn't prove it because the owner just totesit up on his computer and gives you the final number without any itemization and since he's right there what are you going todo? I'll tell you what you're going to do : if you go there insist on a bill. If you eat the food, which is overrated.Actually, don't get the food, it's totally not worth it even at half the price they charge. Get the gelato, though, it's verygood, even though the flavors I want they never seem to have, the gelato is very good. Read more

Fantastic gelato and cannolis! This place is a hidden gem and an absolutely superb culinary treat. This was our first time... here and we will certainly be back again and again. The fresh peach (seasonal) sorbet was the best I?ve ever tasted and thecannolis were as good as Mike?s or Modern in Boston. If you order a gelato, go for the medium. It is only a slightly highercost, but you?ll get much more gelato. The prices may seem high, but you get what you pay for and the high quality is worth thecost. Without exaggeration, this was the best gelato I?ve had in California. Read more

I came here with 4 friends on a Friday evening and it wasn't crowded. I did a phone reservation a few days before. We ordered... margherita pizza and 3 pasta dishes of the following: Spaghettini Con Anatra (homemade spaghettini with duck ragu sauce),Spaghetti Alla Carbonara Romana (spaghetti with pork cheeks & egg) & Fetuccine Al Funghi (hand cut egg noodles w/ portobella &porcini mushrooms). I was glad that my friends and I shared all the pasta dishes to try a few bites from each. I love thattheir pasta is hand made. Each pasta is also al dente (chewy & firm). The duck ragu pasta dish was pretty light in flavor butstill flavorful with the duck. The mushrooms were juicy and fresh and the egg noodles were wonderful. The carbonara dish wasquite rich and creamy in flavor but its crispy bacon and peppery taste balanced out the richness from the cheese. The pizza wasalso delicious with the thin crust and char from wood fire. It was juicy from the tomatoes & cheesy. The pesto sauce was also anice extra touch to the pizza. I tried their nectarine & silican almond for gelato this time. Nectarine tasted just like thefruit and it was refreshing. The almond was quite nutty. I also recommend their focaccia bread and pistachio gelato. I was sadthat they didn't have pistachio gelato this time since I usually get that when I have visited Bulgarini the past few times. Assomeone who loves pistachios, their pistachio gelato is one of the best I have tasted in LA area. ???????? Read more

Quite possibly the only dinner restaurant of quality in Altadena, which can unfortunately make it quite busy and dramatically... slow down the service. Luckily it has great ambience to make up for it. Incredible pasta and wine. And the foccacia bread! Mygod, incomparable. Read more

Dinner here was an amazing and unexpected discovery! It was as though a restaurant from Italy had dropped into an unassuming... strip mall. We were seated outside on a warm summer evening, though heat lamps are available for cooler times. We started withthe light, crisp focaccia and a savory ribollita. We then had a variety of pasta dishes, including a light duck ragu and a richcarbonara. The pasta was fresh and had a great texture, again reminiscent of Italy. Finally, we finished with an assortment ofgelato. There's a small but friendly staff running the whole operation out of limited space, but the quality was wonderful! Read more

I had high hopes for this place from what I read and saw, and I was not disappointed!! The gentleman recommended seasonal... flavors ? lemon and almond, and we also tried strawberry and coffee. Honestly, lemon and almond were above and beyond what we?veexpected. They were soooo goood!! And they were so good together!!! Super refreshing, no artificial flavors, just tasted likefresh, creamy delicately sweet lemon and freshly roasted almond. Strawberry and coffee were good also, but not as impressive asthe seasonal ones. It?s so hard to find gelato places that actually make gelato themselves and especially with fresh, seasonalingredients. I think we just found one and so excited and glad to have tried this place!
