Castelli's, which most of us still call Moonlight, has been a staple for the area for decades. First off, the Roman dressing is... always good. No other place around Alton has dressing like it and I'm pretty sure it's still made from scratch. When we dine-in,the food and service are usually both phenomenal. Chicken strips are always awesome, and my son's favorite. Spouse likes themoonlight burgers, but they're way too big for me. Prime rib, steaks, and pork chops are usually very good and almost alwaysperfectly cooked. Appetizers are overpriced, but usually tasty if we decide to splurge. Their fettuccine Alfredo used to bereally good and was one of my faves on their menu, but lately it has tasted like it has had some type of cleaner mixed into thesauce. I'm sure it's anise or some other herb that is making it taste that way. Sadly, because of that funky flavor, I'm nolonger interested in ordering anything with Alfredo sauce. Fried chicken can sometimes be overcooked, but the flavor andcrispiness of the breading is good. My biggest complaint is that almost every time we get the combo family meals to go, thelarge pan of pasta, whether mostaccioli or mac'n'cheese, is almost always cold. It tastes okay, but it just needs to be hot likeeverything else. Pasta tends to hold heat well in an aluminum pan with an aluminum lid, so I'm guessing they're keeping cookedpans of pasta in the walk-in cooler and then just pouring sauce over it and shoving it in the broiler for a couple minutes tomelt the sprinkles of cheese they put on top. I've been here several times and the food and service are always great. Today, the service was exceptional! I can't say enough... good things about our server Alexander. He gave service with a smile, was super friendly and had awesome suggestions. He made melove Castelli's that much more! If anyone out there is on the fence about trying this place, please do it- you won't bedisappointed. The fried chicken is awesome, the catfish, the charbroiled chicken.... so many good things. Do yourself a favor,get a slice of chocolate mousse cake.... just be sure to leave some for me- haha! Read more
Love, love, LOVE this restaurant!!! Your perfect dining experience starts when you are greeted by at the hostess stand, it just... gets better from there! Servers are polite, smiling and happy. They make you feel welcome. The food is just as amazing as thestaff!! Will continue to come there and tell as many people as i can about Castelli's!!! Read more
I am just curious on why Moonlight has lowered their standards. The ladies that seat the customer wear inappropriate clothing... like half shirts and jeans or super short shorts. I thought this restaurant was higher end then this. We have been coming herefor so many years. The food standards have also dropped so I assume the hiring of the cooking staff have drop as well. Pleaseget this restaurant back to how it used to be. Or I am sad to say we will no longer be coming here. Read more

When you're ready for a shot of cholesterol, this is the place for fried food! It's really not greasy, just the best fried... chicken ever. The steaks are excellent, the spaghetti and fettuccine are to die for! We live about 45 minutes away and try toget there at least once a month! Read more
