It has probably been a decade since I've dined at Steak n Shake. Dined in on a weekend night around 9p and there were only 2... other tables occupied. A few folks got carryout. The place was very clean and well lit. It has quarter toy dispensers (I haveto wonder how often the gumballs and hard candy are replaced?) And a crazy claw machine. Very kid friendly. This store still explicitly allows Dashers to come into the lobby to access the delivery pickup. Unfortunately, in the few dozen... times I have come back, the order sits there incomplete. Every time I have to flag down someone in the kitchen and ask them toprepare drinks. The other day, I had an order with 5 drinks and some fries, and when I went to get it only the fries were ready.The employees didn't even realize there WERE drinks. It took about 15 minutes for the drinks to be ready as well, after a singleemployee took it upon themselves to not only complete the order but also to manage the grill and what seemed like the entirefront end. While they made the shakes, other employees and management watched them instead of helping in any of it. No one wastending to the drive thru, and the rest of the work was left to a single person. Steak n Shake is contractually obligated to allow Dashers to pick up food from any area thatcustomers can pick up food. So not only are they blatantly ignoring a contract signed by Steak n Shake as a corporation, butthey are also ignoring very, very clearly posted laws regarding accessible parking. Luckily, after documenting the incidentsthat Steak n Shake happily caused, Doordash has filed an official report for breach of contract regarding this location.Hopefully one day Theresa can realize that not only are delivery services NOT her employees to treat terribly, but also that sheshouldn't be treating her employees so badly. I love Steak and Shake. Great food. I went today and sat in the line for 25 minutes in 100 degree heat. My car started... overheating and had to sit with no air. C'mon guys, I expect so much more from you guys. May be a while before I make a tripback. I have to cool down my self first... Read more
Have to order on kiosk.. had never done this... Offered no assistance.. friend placed complete order and at payment tried to... pay cash... Could not figure it out. When she asked, they told her she had to order at register if paying cash . No where wasthis posted, nor were we told this...have to go get order, have to go get drink, have to bus your own table.. kiosk then asks atpayment about leaving a tip...uhm??? What??? Will not go back. I now consider them fast food and not a restaurant. Youshould not have to do ANYTHING besides tell the server what you want at a restaurant...this is when I leave a tip. This Steak and Shake has definitely mastered the new restaurants system without cashiers and things. But the number one thing I... enjoyed about this restaurant was how clean it was. Even the manager was wiping and cleaning tables and making sure that therestaurant was spotless. I've been to a lot of Steak and Shakes but this by far was the cleanest Steak and Shake I have everbeen in. Even the restrooms were clean! And the food was absolutely hot and delicious and fresh this Steak and Shake experiencesurpassed all of my expectation and then some! Service was fair but food was terrible. Sons hot dog was nasty and not their usual all beef. Stay clear of their chicken... nuggets. All dry bread and barely no chicken. Very thin and scarce.
