Fantastic place! The dinner salad was cold and crisp, with homemade croutons and dressing. Our meals were delicious - well... seasoned but not crazy salty. Fries were hot and crispy. Servers were attentive, and empty glasses were quickly refilled. Theperfectly crunchable pellet ice was great, too! It was lovely hearing locals greeting one another, and as I was checking outone of the servers was telling another about how one of the customers had made her the custom apron with pockets. We were in town picking up our car from K&K and Stan reccomended that we ate here bc it was so delicious and he was not lying,... food was so delicious and reasonably priced! Wish they had one in Kansas City! If we were ever in area again we'd definitely beback! Read more
We had an incredible experience today at 818 Diner. We were en route from Garden City to Tulsa; never been through Alva in our... lives; whipped into this diner for a quick bite before continuing our trip. When we walked in, the diner was slammed! Lookedlike the entire populous of Alva was there having lunch. Victoria was our server and she patiently answered my questions aboutthe menu; we ordered; and our food was out in a timely manner. We were ready to go so asked Victoria for our check. She told usthat it had already been paid. Told her we were just passing through and didn?t know a soul in Alva. She said, ?Just pay itforward. That?s the way we do it here in Alva.? We wish we knew who was so kind so that we could offer our warmest thanks. Honestly the 818 Diner is probably one of the best things to happen to Alva. Over the past 9 years that I've lived in this town... I've seen the establishment change constantly and I've never once seen the building get full until it became the 818 which Ifind amazing and I'm honestly proud of how well the restaurant has grown since it opened up last year and it's improvements overthe months. Another thing to mention is their food the 818 provides a wonderful breakfast selection in the early morning, and awonderful lunch selection they have their regular specials but they do usually have a daily special which is always wonderful totry. If you're feeling a little hungry for some breakfast they do honor some of their breakfast items during lunch just expect abit longer of a wait time as you're ordering a breakfast item. Aside from that I've had no recomplaints about the restaurant atall. The staff is super friendly, they are very attentive to their customers. I do appreciate how well they work constantly tomake sure their customers are taken care of. The only minor complaint I do have which I haven't done in awhile is something Inoticed last year when you'd order an appetizer you usually anticipate this to come out before your food, there has beennumerous occasions in the past when I'd get my appetizer and food at the same time. At this point eating becomes a littledaunting due to this I haven't really ordered an appetizer anymore due to my inital fear of getting both food at the same exacttime. Well since COVID began last year they've taken great strides to keep their business open, making sure tables are cleanand customers were spaced out they even implemented a drive thru and opened up later hours in the day.
