Two words you don?t often see in the same review: ?Ambridge? & ?upscale.? Yet here we are. We had a most pleasant dining... experience here yesterday. Gotta say- the staff was most attentive and worked to assure our visit was positive. Kudos. Our mealwas off of the special menu, so not there every day (catfish! two ways) and the soup du jour (perfectly executed French Onion)may not be available on your visit, but the effort that went into our experience was noted. We?ll return. Friendly staff.Enjoyable. Recommended. Read more

Scallops were fresh and great tasting. The parmesan cheese coating really was the highlight of the dinner.

We ate here for the first time last night based on the recommendation of a local shop owner, I had the Broiled Cod with baked... potato, Mahi Mahi topped with peach mango chutney and roasted zucchini as the side. Starting with the cons: It's about an hourand a half away from me. Pros: the cod was probably the best broiled fish I've had from anywhere, it was fall apart flakey andthe lemon butter sauce gave it a great flavor without overpowering it. The baked potato was cooked perfectly (soft inside, nicecrispy skin on the outside). My wife had the Mahi Mahi mostly gone before I even realized what happened, she said the chutneygave added the perfect blend of sweet and spicy to the fish, the zucchini was roasted in a lemon olive oil, her new favorite wayto cook it she said. For dessert she had baklava sundae, it had a eater large and thick piece of baklava under a scoop of icecream and covered with chocolate. I had the creme brulee with raspberries, it was torched right at the table which was a nicetouch to it, the brown sugar was caramelized just right to form a warm layer on top of the cool bottom. I preferred it withoutthe raspberries, they took away from the taste of the actual creme brulee so I ate them separately. Our waiter (who I'm assumingwas one of the owners) was wonderful. He was attentive enough to us that we never had to ask for anything and even joked aroundwith us. After our dinner he came over and talked to us for a little while and was an all around awesome guy, even if the foodwasn't as amazing as it was the treatment we got from him was enough to make us go back. Alexander's is a family restaurant that has been serving the Ambridge community and its environs for years. It is the go-to... place for a nice atmosphere, good and well prepared food, and outstanding hospitality. The prices are very reasonable, and andwhile most of the menu is traditional American food, they do have some Greek offerings and Italian offerings which areexcellent. I recommend it highly. I visited Alexander?s today as I often pass through Ambridge (unfortunately). I was disappointed. I?m not sure who the rude... waiter was that everyone was botching about, but our server was super nice. Their menu is OK. Decent selection. Sadly, the breadthey were kind enough to give me was microwaved to hell resulting in rolls that were tougher than rocks. The Honey glazedchicken was completely tasteless. The only thing you could taste was honey. No flavors at all, no good notes of aftertaste, noseasonings. I?d really be interested in visiting one more time and trying their pecan ball. Read more

Alexander's catered a company luncheon in February of 2014. The food was absolutely incredible. Everything tasted amazing and... was fresh and hot. The staff filled our plates to the brim and didn't skimp on anything! Absolutely exceptional food. I see theother complaints on here are in regards to their customer service and wait staff skills-- obviously I can't comment to that asour interaction was simply catered but the older lady and two gentlemen that were here were nothing but kind and repeatedlythanked us for the opportunity to serve them. When they got here (K&L Gates downtown) one of my co-workers heard the older ladysay, "This will be the best meal they will have!" We laughed and kind of played it off as overly confident -- she proved to becorrect! Read more
