Delightful lunch experience. We started with a cup of sweet corn crab soup and the daily bread. My wife had the Broccoli Pasta... and had the Fried Bologna Reuben. For dessert we shared a Tiramisu Cannoli. All very good and the service was excellent. Read more
We visited on 7/23/22. Close to ISU campus. Food was great. Good service. Has a full restaurant and a separate deli all in the... same location. I got the Brussel sprout salad and added chicken, it was really good. Dessert selection was amazing, I highlyrecommend the key lime cheesecake. We came here for my boyfriend's birthday a little over a week ago. His dish was good but I am still day-dreaming about the pasta... dish that I got. The flavor profile was complex and complimentary. I honestly can't wait to drive through Ames again so I caneat here once more. I would die a happy person if I could have that broccoli rabe pasta again. Our server (who was extremelypleasant) suggested squeezing a bit of lemon over the pasta and it honestly brought all of the flavors together and brightenedup the dish immensely. Whatever she advises, listen! I'm sorry that I didn't get her name though. The restaurant itself isbeautiful and they have a breakfast/bakery/take-out counter on one side and dining area on the other. Both are aestheticallyappealing. We were sat right away in a booth by the window. Desserts were just a bit too sweet for me but my boyfriend liked itand it was his birthday so that's all that matters ??????????? The food here was good but not great. I was not super impressed with the sandwich. There was a lot of bread and not a lot of... beef for a sandwich that cost $18, it is hard to leave a great review. That being said the environment was great and the servicewas phenomenal. Read more
Taste, atmosphere, price, and server friendliness. It was a restaurant not to be missed. However, green beans are served on the... side of the steak, which didn't seem to go well with me. I thought it would be better if you put some salad on the side and makeus eat it with meat. I also drank a glass of Pinot Noir red wine, and it smelled and tasted good. Tip: sit at the bar to avoid the wait for a table! The exit and road to the restaurant look like you're going nowhere special... but once you open the doors, this is an absolute gem. It looks like it could be a restaurant in Chicago. Great space, lovelydecor, good vibe, and the food was awesome. Any time we pass by Ames, we'll be stopping here! Read more
