Food was decent as always. Not best in the world by any means, but far better than other options in town. Service is almost... always top notch in this location! The after 9 crowd though can be a tad annoying.. had a table next to us with about 20 kidsand no adults.. I would recommend putting parties like that in another section. Wings looked a little burnt and smaller thannormal, but tasted really good! Other than that.. definitely recommend and will return! Read more
You know what you're getting when you go to Applebees...its reliably consistent. I'd like to see more salad options. Our... server appeared confused as she tried to take our drink order twice...took a while to get those drinks. The meal came quicklyand our server got better. I had the Whiskey bacon burger. It had good flavor and was a lot to eat. The "perfect Margherita "was just so so, it still tasted a lot like Margherita mix. Read more
While this not 'fine dining' Applebee's is consistently very good -- service, food, atmosphere, everything is always, reliably... good. I've never had a bad experience here, and that matters. Read more
Great food Everything was hot and FRESH
Hadn't dined at Applebee's on 1st Street in Ankeny for a while, so we thought we'd check it out last Saturday. Got there about... 1:00pm, so maybe we missed the noon rush but anyway, we were seated immediately and our waitress (Morgan) was with us withinseconds. Both of us knew what we wanted, so we ordered right away. My wife got the Southwest Chicken Bowl, and I got theTex-Mex Shrimp Bowl. It came with grilled chipotle lime shrimp on mixed greens and cilantro rice with house-made pico de gallo,black bean corn salsa and guacamole. Topped with chimichurri, tortilla strips and a fresh lime wedge. (Can ya tell I copiedthat from the website?) Anyway, we were both VERY pleased with the cleanliness of the place, with Morgan's attention to us, andthe very fine meal. And yeah, the restroom was pretty tidy. It's it just me or do some restaurant's act like they don't need the business? - We need to raise minimum wage so there's noexcuses for this behavior. It wasn't busy inside at all but the customer service was horrible. First we walked in to 3 hostesses just talking and ignoring... we walked in. So we just sat ourselves. Our waitress took about 5 minutes to acknowledge that we were there even though they allwere standing by the bar. The garden salad was so small and pitiful. Then we had to go find our waitress to pay. Let me say thiswas not busy at all. Poor service. Won't be going back to Altoona Applebee's. Read more
Good food, reasonable prices and friendly service. Applebee's have a great selection to choose from for both adults and kids... alike. We dined here for my mother in law's birthday and there wasn't a hungry belly or unhappy diner amongst us. Would highlyrecommend their three cheese chicken penne, my partner swears by it Read more
