Food was ok, service was pretty slow and lacking overall. Large place, we sat in the bar area and our server didn?t check on us... very often and also looked bothered by any requests. They serve a trio of salsas, one of which is a pineapple green salsa and itwas pretty good. My meal was a 6.1/10. Overall I wouldn?t go out of my way to come back. Read more

Abuelo's Mexican restaurant had a gate in the front which was nice. I thought that the patio was big and great to sit out once... it gets little less Texas heat weather. I enjoyed the different salsas that they give you in the beginning. They had a spicysalsa with a chunk of tomato. They had a green very mint and pineapple sweet salsa. Probably used tomaillos as the base and theyhad a regular salsa which was refreshing with thin chips. I got Grande which is a huge plate but great for sharing for two. Theyasked I if wanted rice or papa's. Get the papa's it is fantastic and something different. The waitress was attentive and verynice. My grandma thought the tortilla soup was spicy and they gave her an option to get something else. She got the papa's andthought it was good. Sorry I only got pictures of my food. Read more

Not only is the service good, but so is the staff. My husband lost his debit card. We looked everywhere, his job, our car,... etc. He told me to call the restaurant to see if anyone had turned in a card & sure enough 1 of the managers had found it by thefront door. Both hubby and I were relieved ???? There are still good, honest people out there. The food is really good. If youlike a bit of heat, you will love the red salsa ???? The green salsa has a nice sweetness to it. We ordered some queso which wasgreat. I told hubby to get his fingers out of my picture but he didn't listen ??????? I had the enchilada plate with rice andbeans, he had the tamale ???? plate. Needless to say there wasn't any room left for dessert (which they have) as the food filledus up. ???? Lunchtime no crowd. Service was great. Chips were warm and three flavors of salsa. The green was sweet with pineapple. Other two... were more traditional. Chile relleno was great. The platinum margarita was delicious and plenty of tequila. The burrito withshredded beef had great flavor. Was smaller than expected. Beans were smoky. Rice on the side and a small scoop of guacamole.Better than first time when we stopped and there was a 2 hour wait. Sorry I don't wait for prime rib and lobster 2 hours. Food was good and the wait wasn't bad. But the server was lackluster to our table for some reason. There was a table next to us... she had and she seemed much more cheerful. She didn't seem kid friendly and acted like she didn't want to be there. There mayalways be something else going on but that does not mean the guests should feel that same vibe. Read more

My husband and I had lunch at Abuelo's today (11/13/22). My husband had the taco/enchilada plate and I had the Mexican stack. ... They were both delicious meals!
