Service - poor 2 stars Food - average - 3 stars Restoration - 5 stars Started going to this restaurant in 1976. Have not been in... awhile. Candlelite has been nicely restored by the current owners. Excellent job on keeping the original atmosphere. We walkedin, just 2 guys, no one else in the lobby. Asked for a booth. Restaurant was about 2/3 full. Hostess tried to sit us at a 6 toptable, we said no, we would like a booth, she tried to sit us at 4 top. we said no we want a booth and pointed to one that wasempty, just waiting to be cleaned. She left and went back to the hostess stand. That was the last we saw of her. Busboy cameand cleaned the table. We sat down and waited and waited and waited. We had no menu or silverware. Finally a nice waitress cameand asked if we had a drink order, realized this was the bar waitress. Another waitress showed up and asked for our order. Welet her know we had no menu's. Waited to get the menus and silverware. Gave our order and drinks. Waited for chips and salsa,got a basket with the chips broken up in small pieces. Good news is they still have the big beer mugs. Got our order and minewas wrong. She brought us 2 of the same orders. Was about to complain then just gave up. Already waited long enough to get food.Not going to risk it. Sales was god, like I remembered, The toast was good, the bake potato was ok, the ground beef patty hadlittle flavor. Paid the bill and left frustrated. Read more

Good food from a long time restaurant. Has something on the menu for everyone. Italian, steaks, Mexican, pizza, variety of... drinks and bar options. Small intimate place to enjoy a relaxing meal. Open for lunch and dinner (week days closed in between).Great experience and staff is wonderful! A definite place to check out. Customer of theirs for 30 years plus. Read more

We were excited by the menu and the decor was interesting. It was very 70?s but clean and well maintained. Our server was Adrian... and he did the best he could but the kitchen was horrible. We had a show to get to and allowed plenty of time but the drinks andfood were still very slow getting out. I never got my salad, my steak which i ordered medium rare was medium well and I couldn?teat it. We will never go back or recommend the restaurant to anyone. I hope Adrian gets a better job. If ya looking for FAMILY Owned Business, that's giving ya the "Welcome Home" Dining Experience; this is The Place. Everything is... made Fresh to order, with Texas Friendly Service, that has relaxing atmosphere. We came here, after long exhausting Day. Theydid NOT Disappoint. I would definitely Recommend any Steak on menue, the Caesar Salad, the Queso, Salsa and Chips. All are madeFRESH to order. They serve icy cold Shiner Beer on Tap, in Icy Cold Mugs!!! Eaten here for years, at least 2-3 times a month. Food great, big variety, daily specials etc. Would run into the owner of my... company etc. Today, due to recent stomach issues I just wanted something bland and I ordered the kids mac and cheese. Wasimmediately told NO, only 12 and under. (Due to my issues I have NEVER been told I could not order off the kids menu at otherrestaurants)! The hostess always recognizes us (this waitress I have never seen before). I asked for a larger portion and Iwould pay more. She left and came back, telling me I could order two. I agreed and said to pack one to go. My in restaurant onewas a good sized portion and I only ate half of it. I get back to work and take the lid off the to-go container (which wasalmost the same size of the restaurant bowl...just a tiny bit smaller). See the picture and how there is a very small amount inthis cup. I called and the manager said they come in packets and she would talk to the kitchen. After hearing that, I personallythink they made ONE packet, filled my restaurant bowl and put the remainder in the to-go. MEANWHILE, charging me 2 x $7.99 forthe two orders and a tip. Total rip off! I was offered to come back for a replacement but, I am going to pass and never return.Was suggested to let my owner know so, he can decide if he wants to continue to support such an establishment that treats theircustomers like that. First time here. It's family owned and run. Food was great . Had sirloin Italian. It came with spaghetti ???? and steak ????... . Spaghetti was great. Sirloin was cooked to perfection. We added sautéed onions ???? . The garlic toast was amazing. Sweettea was on point. Their menu is big. ???? pizza,steak,Mexican food. I recommend this place If your down here by the stadium????.
