We attended Benne on Eagle for brunch on Sunday and I have to say that it was the most incredible experience I have ever had!... Executive Chef Robert Alexander has curated the most inviting (and delicious) menu for those who are looking for the perfectAsheville “seasoning”. Having eaten at many of the lovely restaurants our town has to offer, I have to say that the food andservice here was 10/10! You won’t truly appreciate crispy pork belly until you’ve feasted on the delicately crispy pieceslaid out at Benne on Eagle. The service was excellent. The food was amazing. And I left wanting to return again the next time I visit Asheville. I dined... outside and was able to have my dog with me. I had the salmon cakes which were corn nut crusted with habanero sauce and cornsalad. I also had the scented red rice. The food was superb. It was also good to read the history of the establishment. Got recommended by a local. Not only its located in one of the best hotel but staff is amazing, food delicious and creative and... great bar. Just went for drinks and then bfast but definitely will go back for more next time I am in the city. Chicken wafflewill blow your mind if you like flavors - think sage, fried chicken, spicy honey… and the Benedicte also one of a kind. Staffis glorious and look to love their job. Great team. We enjoyed a lovely brunch here on the back patio. We arrived a little early for our reservation and we were standing in the... front entrance for about a minute or so, when a chef (the chef?) came out from behind the expediting station and greeted us andlet us know that a host would be with us shortly. That was a great first impression and really demonstrated their hospitality. That continued as we were seated and the lead host (manager?) took our drink order after a few minutes. We decided to sharetwo items on the menu, the fried green tomatoes and the soft scramble with crispy kale on toast. Both were excellent, but thefried green tomatoes really stood out! The combination of cheese, tomatoes, and chow chow made for a perfect bite, withrichness, tartness and sweetness all in one. The toast was also good. The crispy kale was great, and if the scramble had beenjust a little bit softer, it would have been perfect. Our cocktails were well made, and the patio looks into the courtyard ofthe Foundry hotel, so there was some good people watching to be found. I am excited to come back for dinner in the future. When you walk in the front door of Benne on Eagle you are greeted by a large portrait of the prolific poet, James Baldwin. I... started my meal with the cornbread and crispy pork belly. The pairing of the pork, apple butter and pistachio was a combinationI was not expecting to be so darn delicious. My entrée consisted of fried catfish and collard greens.
